The ugly truth (title is too short)

So yeah… I’ll admit it:

I played with a pirated copy of the game for half a year.

I said it. I’ve been feeling so bad about it! I was on the forums, and got normal customer-support :frowning: I really wanted to buy the game because you deserved it, but my parents didn’t allow me to buy more games. Because I bought a lot of games… lol. Anyway, hope you forgive me developers! I’ve had a legal copy for… I think a year now!

I did that too. I played with a pirated copy for 1 month. Then, I just bought the game. I’m so sorry T_T When I saw that message for ‘thanks for buying our little game’ I almost cried. I closed the game and played for a month. Then I bought it. I didn’t buy it from the start because I didn’t have any money. I’m ready for the punishment.

My first time was a pirated copy too, but just because i was curious, i saw in a videogame website about how the developers have put a “special” version of their game on torrent … bla bla bla and i found it so funny that a wanted it to try myself.

That´s how i discovered this game, played a few game years (10 or 15) and deleted from my Pc and promised myself i would by this game if someday was available on Steam.

Did no-one understand the reference in the title? :frowning:

(Hint: The Elder Scrolls)

Isn’t it Heimskr? The stupid, really annoying man worshiper?? ((Yes, I usually play as a High Elf XD))

I used to pirate things. More movies than games, but I understand why others would. I’m employed now (which is why I buy stuff now) but I understand “just get a job” or “just beg a parent” are two lines of logic that just aren’t that simple.

Got it ultimately when it was on sale on Steam. I do not regret it.

I’m pretty surprised that such an active community member would have owned and played the pirated version while interacting with us directly on the forums. Sadly, listening to other devs, this seems to happen quite frequently.

Anyway, I’m glad you bought the game now and support us. The only reason we can continue to make games is because of players who buy our game. Thanks :green_heart:

The truth is, people want to know what the new game is about and what all the hubb-hubb is about, so they grab the pirated version to experience the full game. When they think the game is great and want to support the developers that made it, then they buy the full game.

point being: pirates claim that they buy games. not many do.

Well, pirates are pirates. They can change or not.

I’ll confess too.
I, for one, haven’t even heard of the game until TheAznDVD did a playthrough of it. Then i heard that he is giving away 10 copies of the game. That, is when i got the game. But it’s not the first time i played it, i played it back when i was at my friend’s house, he torrented the game because he was a fan of Xisuma’s, who was also doing a playthrough at the time. After i got the game for real, i got hooked at the game, because i wasn’t really a beginner. So yeah.

Same story for me… but bought it after 3 days (I think) (TALKING ABOUT STIANS STORY)

I don’t know if it was just me but when people say “pirates” I think people with black hats and eye patches and a wooden boat. Or is this what are they talking about!?

You got proof that I bought it, considering I published a mod to the Steam Workshop :stuck_out_tongue: (realized that I had on English keyboard layout, annd switched)

I didn’t mean to imply that you didn’t buy it, I’m just saying that the generalization that people pirate, then buy is a fairy tale. No data we have would in the slightest support this story. Most who pirate don’t buy. I’m happy that a few do though

I do pirate a lot, I’m gonna be honest. But its to try out the game! I basically always buy the game afterwards. Apart from certain games which were horrible… (Godus, Godus, Godus) I cant remember one game I havent bought after pirating. So I guess I’m “one of a kind” :stuck_out_tongue:
