The music and art of Game Dev Tycoon?

First off, I’d just like to say this is my favorite game out of the Windows 8, Android, and iOS appstores. Windows 8 may be lacking in apps right now, but at least we’ve got this gem.

I’m curious about the development of this game right now. There were only two developers correct? How were the assets done? How much of the art, sound, and music was made by you guys?

Initially the game was planned to be much simpler and without many graphics or animations. Once we changed our plans to make a bigger game we knew we couldn’t create these assets ourselves.

###Artwork and animations
Artwork and animations were done by contractors we hired through odesk.com

The isometric platform icons were designed by Yaroslav Okhranchuk.
The game logo was also done by Yaroslav after my fiancée came up with the idea and a sketch for it.

The level artwork and object animations which made it into the final game was done by Diego Barrionuevo.
We were intimately involved in the design of the levels.

The character design and animations were done by Valerii Kambarov.

###Sound & Music
Sound effects were created by Joachim Lipnegg or taken from free-to-use sources.

The background music was bought from www.melodyloops.com.

Everything else was done by us.

Thanks for the response! Sounds like quite a few people were getting involved then!

At what point in the development process did you realize that this was going to be something bigger? Had much of the game logic already been down before you made the decision to change your plans?

I talked about some of the history of the game in an interview. You can read it here:
