The Game Calander

I’ve pre-ordered this on Steam and am looking forward to playing it. I’ve been so looking forward to it I’ve been watching Let’s Play videos on youtube. This is only a small gripe, but why doesn’t the game use a real calendar. The game states that the game is set in the 1980s, but with the game calender displaying Y1 M1 W1 it kind of makes the 1980s setting irrelevant. Why not use, for example, 1985 January Week 1? Like, I said, a small, cosmetic gripe…

Well… If you can count for a little bit, and you start in 1980. Y17 M4 W3 would mean April 3rd Week 1997.

He meant the exact date. Not like Y1 M3 W3. He wanted the date like March 21, 1980.

That’s what I said. You don’t have the exact day & number, well… that’s not a big problem. As far as you can go stays: The 3rd week of April 1997 and I don’t feel the need to get any deeper into it.

Technically the game starts in the 1980’s-ish™ so the exact date isn’t set. This allows you to play the game at a variety of game speeds, without wondering why the PS2 isn’t released until 2005 (for example - NB: I just made that example up, so don’t go looking to see if it’s true).

Exactly the calendar is what have annoyed me the most.

Constantly calculating exactly where I am on the time-line is just…irritating.

Its pretty easy, actually. Y17 M2 W3 would be easily 1997 February Week 3, unless you don’t like to count. :wink:

Because it’s easy doesn’t make it less of an annoyance :wink:

That’s true, my cowboy. :cow::boy:

Tbh, it’s quite easy to work out that Y17 M2 W3 is the 3rd week of the 2nd month of the 17th year… Anything more doesn’t actually matter.

It might be worth calling to mind the Video Game Developer’s Mantra:

Fun trumps Realism everytime.

I think that using the real dates would be much better, but could get confusing.
