LOL They seriously thought your game was an Xbox Arcade indie game. Wow
Deals can be this bad in real life.
I suppose. But for games shipping past 11 million copies ?
It just seems extraordinarily bad, considering most new hit titles go for 20$ - 60$
Well usually Devs that are working with publishers won’t have 11M copies sold of their game.
But just like in Game Dev Tycoon, publishing deals are meant to get a larger fan base and not make a lot of money.
For deals you get a certain %, like 10 or something. I assume the number you see is what you got, and not what it made in total. The rest of the money went to the publisher(s)
Wow that does look pretty bad. Anyways before you sign up with a publisher, there is a royalty percentage you can see with each one (they vary). However, I haven’t seen them go THAT high, and so I assume that the average person won’t encounter a royalty higher than 20%
Yeah, I often wind up needing to take the low paying jobs because I don’t want to screw up or because they’re the only ones where I have the appropriate topic researched and/or license available. You often wind up making less than one dollar per copy sold if the royalty is 7 or 8%
Just take the ones with high rating and royalty, the penalty amount isn’t that high
You accepted it, right?
Maybe it was sold in the Humble Bundle, hmm?
Well … And with those 11M+ games sold, how many fans did you get ? Don’t forget that’s the only use of a publisher : make yourself a good fan base
yeah sure, games get sold in the humble bundle below 1$ right after release
i think it’s a balancing problem but they might want to fox this
