I suggest letting us develop games for our custom consoles that are under construction in the hardware lab. This way the console launches with game(s) available for it on launch (a bit more realistic).
If it were possible the game could “hold” titles until the new console actually goes live, which could let you launch with multiple titles. So you “finish” the game, but the rating score and sales are not triggered until the custom console goes on sale. If you cancel the custom console, any pre-made games for it go in the bin.
As releasing a great game on your custom console boosts sales, this would let you have a super-launch. It would be fantastic to release a custom console with 2-3 top hit games for it on day 1 - I’d love to see the console sales
Love the idea, but, it would also be great if other (small) studio’s want to make game(s) for your console that is not even out yet… That you contact them, and ask them if they wanna make a game for your new console right? And that you can also start your own “press conference” to unveil the console with their games and partnerships (the other game studios who made games for it). That would be awesome.
One good idea, it would make it so much more ‘real’.
The other thing is to make your production affect success of the consoles. If you release a lot of tittles (generally good) to one platform it should rise the share.
Not to mention add option to port games.
Last but not least, instead of market share introduce market popularity, since especially at some point some players have more than one hardware. Like PS3+grApple+PC.
Its a nice idea but won’t be easy to implement.
The time it takes to develop a console depends on the consoles monthly budget. The time it takes to make a game is fixed.
What if the game is finished before the console finishes? What if the console finishes when the game is at 10%?
The idea is that you could even complete multiple games for your console release. The games are flagged to be held until the console finishes and are released with it.
If the console finishes first, the game just releases as normal…
