So, the game does not recommend that you have a story in your action games.
Is it better to not have a story AT ALL or is it better to have some story but not too much because it kind of gives the game more production value?
Story in an Action game is not needed.
You are implementing some though, refer to the bottom time allocation preview.
Adding more story would shorten the time allocated for Engine and Gameplay.
If you add âtoo muchâ story the game getâs out of the âperfect slider comboâ and will receive more unfavourable reviews and thus sell less.
Does adding Linear Story result a bit better?
Because I STILL dont know if its better to COMPLETELY leave out story.
Itâs a matter of tech/design balance. If you can add a wee bit of story without messing up your tech/design balance, thatâs good. As extreme as the balance point for Action games is⌠Itâs pretty much best to skip the story entirely.
Not that I ever do. Games with no story at all annoy me. I give tech-focused games a little bit of story anyways.
Linear Story is a feature that adds one bonus point. Features donât actually have an effect on anything other than bonus. More features = better game, but it doesnât matter what those features are supposed to do.
For action games the Story/Quest slider is one of the âUnimportantâ sliders. Meaning adding too much of it in your game, will hurt your review score, even if everything else is perfect. ( Including tech/design ratio )
If you want to have story in a action game, itâs better to wait for multigenre and mix it with RPG or Adventure.
As long as your team is implementing features, theyâre producing more tech/design bubbles. When they run out of features to implement in a phase, they produce bubbles at half the rate.
I did not know that. Thanks.
