So when this game is released on Steam, people like me that bought it via this website, will get a free steam code to activate it on steam instead?

I’m pretty sure, that everyone who still has there order number, the developers will track down and send the player a key im guessing. I am pretty certain they will send a key to whoever bought the game already.

My Only hope is that they do not make Steam be REQUIRED to play the game. That would just ruin it in my opinion. I hope you can still play the game separate from Steam

Yes, we will send steam keys to everyone who bought the game via the email associated with that account so keep your email account in good standing and don’t loose the log in details 
No we will never make this game Steam Only.
