The reason why video-editing, photo-editing and for example rendering things works better on a Mac is becaues it uses a gpu (AMD FirePro) which is dedicated to these things. For casual gaming it is okay though.
Anyways, your gaming pc is not too much of a gaming pc… cough athlon cough… and you have a GT 440, so that is one of the reasons why it is probably slow with that.
Macs aren’t resistant to virusses… People just don’t make virusses for them.
Most programs rely on good single-core performance :i
A mac is better than a regular PC you can buy in a random store, or ones who aren’t made for workstation use.
and yeah I know my graphics card is old and pretty sucky compared to newer cards, but it runs the games that I want it to (Mirrors edge, Black Ops 2, Gta IV, etc)
Just upgrade your PC… It’d be faster than any Imac you can buy. A 3/4770k would be fine, so you’d need a new cpu/mobo ~400 dollars. And then get a better GPU and you’d be set. So 600ish dollars, and you could have a sick computer.
I understand that, but with apples new OS yosemite, its going to support macs as old as 2007, which is pretty old for apple to support. I feel that i would just get more bang for my buck with an apple.
That’s not more bang for your buck? How is that bang for anyones buck? Just because an OS supports a few years old hardware makes it good? I was playing with one of my older computers, from 2004, and I put Windows 8.1 on it, and it ran flawless. So no, not even in Apple terms, is that “bang for your buck”
Clock speed is nothing, and neither is 8 cores. Probably a 8320, which a stock 4 core 4670 would completely crush in everything. And Ram isn’t important? Anything over 8GB’s is useless.
You could build one for 800 dollars that’ll destroy that.
So what your saying is that I could build something with a core 2 duo at 1.5 ghz with 8 gigs of ram and I could still render videos fine. That just doesn’t make sense
Ah, I see. No, cores don’t always matter. AMD’s multi thread and single thread performance suck. A 4670 (Intel/4 core) is around 50-75% faster than AMD’s 8 cores.
I just I could see that, but I found Adobe After Effects much better, more options, and all. (I’ve owned a Mac, and played around with all the software)
