I have a Vista desktop PC and a 10inch Win7 netbook. Want to buy the game to play on both systems.
The demo runs fine on my Vista system and starts up normally on the netbook. Then the problem occurs: due to the fixed resolution of both game and netbook, the screen is not big enough to display the entire game. Unfortunately that makes starting the game impossible. In the setup-screen where you adjust name and avatar, I cannot reach the start game button which sadly is off-screen.
Is there any way to play this game on a 10inch windows netbook? The android version probably doesn’t have this issue, but there should be a way to adjust resolution. Or simply put in a shortcut for the start game button.
Gotta give them time, they’ve obviously got a lot to do at the moment but I’m sure they’ll get round to looking into it when they’ve got time. Patience young padawan!
You can, but when you have the other areas it just drags into those. It also depend on the extent of the problem if it’s missing half of the sales data on the right, dragging the screen doesn’t help. If it’s missing the top, you can’t see the data when making games etc.
The dragging doesn’t work in the create-a-company screen. Hence the mentioning of “cannot reach the start game button”. Without being able to start the game, the rest becomes moot.
I bought the game regardless. Works flawlessly on my Vista desktop. Yeah Vista!
I’ve got the exact same issue, and would rather not spend money unless I know the game will work on my netbook. Any devs looking into sorting out a different size screen? Or has anyone else found a solution?

Game Dev Tycoon is not designed to run on a Netbook, the bare minimum spec is;
System Requirements: ~2GB RAM, graphics hardware acceleration, minimum resolution of 1024x768
If you don’t have more than 2gb of ram, an actual graphics card (rather than an integrated graphics chip) and a resolution above 1024x768 you will have problems.
You guys could try extracting the files inside the exe and running the game (the HTML file inside the exe) in a web browser. I will provide no advice for how to do this as long as reverse engineering is prohibited, but I am sure there is some website out there where you could figure out how to “extract game dev tycoon exe”. Once you do this you have to run it in Chrome, I know for fact, at the very least, firefox does not work with this game. Now you can scroll up and down when a notification comes up or you make a game. Not optimal but better then nothing.
Have you tried swapping between fullscreen to windowed mode? Have you tried changing your resolution to something higher or lower. Do you have to use a widescreen ratio?
Ok we just tested this and found that everything fits except the start new game screen. /facepalm. We are on this and will have a fix soon so many thanks for bringing this to out attention!
