Hi all. I’m having lots of fun with the game but it’s the second time i hit a wall somewhere around 8th or so year. Basically everything goes well, i did a few top rating titles, i tried to keep improving my technology and to use the best combinations\platforms but suddenly the scores for my game drop so badly i can’t avoid going bankrupt.
I tried using the wiki (avoiding the math-heavy part) to figure out how to proceed but still, i must be doing something wrong, and i can’t figure out what.
Any tips?
If you pirated the game from another website, it’s IRONY!
No lol, i have a legit copy
Then maybe you aren’t pulling out good enough content!
Well i always try to get better design\tech scores from the previous game…sometimes i get close, sometimes i get over it. Am i missing something? Combinations, bubbles, market share and good combination for that console…what else?
Maybe features? All games have good features!
if by features you mean the options on the right that cost money, i throw in as many as i can, usually.
What about engines? Up-to-date engines or old ones?
Last time, i had a state of the art engine…for the stuff i had researched. There were a few things left out since i didn’t have the RP to get them yet but the engine itself cost around 500k
Next time you make an engine, put in everything on the list. Yes, everything!
That’s what i did, i bankrupted before being able to research the items that were left out D:
You sure you didn’t rip it off a website?
Yes, lol. I bought it the other day
Maybe you just don’t research good enough stuff for your engines, or made one big flop!
The game gets harder after year 6. Before year 6, you only need to improve your games by 10% to get another big hit. After year 6 you need a full 20% improvement before another hit can be achieved.
There is also a good chance you WAY overshot your target score with an early game and thus made it extremely difficult to top it. Besides your first 9.0+ game that got you out of the garage, have you had at least one more 9.0 + game? And if so, what did you do prior to making that game?
What pinstar said. It’s not very hard to get out of the garage if you have decent stuff!
Put it this way, you release a 10/10 game and it’s the envy of the entire industry. Naturally, people will expect you to do even better on your next game. You need to be able to release good games CONSISTENTLY.
When you make an engine, don’t put every single feature into the next game. Put maybe one or two new features when you cannot make a game over an average review score of 5. This way, each game you make is better than the previous one, and the reviewers will be satisfied.
You actually just need to train your staff in technology or design after every game you create, that’s more than enough improvement to make a game with a positive outcome rather than a costly one.
