I made a company called E.C.P it was really good and we were doing really well I had 3 employees counting my self. My average amount of money was 800 K but then I did research for 3-D graphics V1. I was all like 3-D Graphics! I’ll make so much money with games like that! I was wrong because the first game we produced with 3-D Graphics V1 got only 5 and 6 with are ratings and that was not a lot of money that you can make with 5 and 6 ratings. So my sales dropped and my average amount of money was then 300 K! In a attempt to save my company I released a new game called “Space Man” (So original) Well after I made that game I got a total of 600 K! To bad Tragedy struck again my Ninvento or what ever they called the Nintendo in the game retired the game system I was using to using to make all my games so I had to buy a license for another Game system. So now I had like 325 K! So I needed to make another game so I released a sequel to Space man called Space man 2 and the market hated it! my highest rating was a 2 so with -180 K! and a loan due in 3 months that I still needed to pay 800 K. Seeing it as my only option I went to my save when I first got my office. BUT I got bankrupt again so now I am back at the beginning of my office wondering what to do! Please someone please tell me how to get out of this continues Bankrupt Nightmare!
Did you use Medium games? Because medium games aren’t really good to make before having 100k fans.
Problem is, there isn’t much information in your post to help you.
As a reminder, if you are short on cash and the system you are developing for leaves the market - there is always the PC. Its cheap (5k) and doesn’t require a license. And most genre work well on it.
Also, i may misread your post, but it sounds like you made Space Man 2 directly after Space Man. That is a really bad decision. First of all making the same topic/genre combo in a row, will get you a big penalty - second a sequel should be made after the original game is a bit older otherwise you get another penalty.
To add something to what WaveJones said. Until you have 100k fans, you should use publishers to make medium games. They don’t make much money, but they will get you huge amount of fans - self-published medium games with less than 100k fans, just don’t sell well enough.
Also use the game report feature to learn what topic/genre combinations are great and what works well on what plattform.
The beginning of the second office (after you leave the garage) is the first real hurdle. Don’t go overboard with expenses. If you don’t have the money to make a medium game (even with the payment from the publisher) then continue making small games. Nothing wrong in being modest.
Once you reach 100k fans and can self-publish medium games, even a medicore game (5-7) can bring in several millions.
Also, two employee is usually enough for medium games. If you are having financial problems, think about downsizing your company a bit
Thanks for the advice and I did start making medium games and I did make the sequel right after the first one I guess I should have made a sequel to Law Run my most popular game. Sure hope your advice helps
