i’m trying to work on a new editor.
ive tried to change the values for steam version but all sqlite edits doesnt work…
at the moment it seems no editing of the savegame is possible.
@lukiono
Ideally we wanted it to be possible to simply drop your save games in and have them work (with steam cloud disabled). It has come to light that is not working quite as intended. We are investigating this and no doubt it will make editing saves easier once we solve this.
For those that don’t know about the steam version. This is how to edit your save file on steam.
Important! If you cannot edit your save “If you are using the Steam version it could be the saves are loading from Cloud saves.” *Credits to @vgs for this advice
You need to search your steamapp folder for:
Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\ …\239820\remote.
NOTE. Where it says"…", this is a long number that holds similar digits to your account number. It is different for everyone, so I cannot tell you, what it will be for you.
Best not to worry about this, just search the steam userdata folder for the folder named"239820". This is the games ID number.
Your save game is held in the folder “remote” This can be edited with notepad++.
Alas, I don’t think that the program from the OP works with this save file. But using the above method you can search for values and change them yourself.
Remember! Always backup your save!
Disclaimer! I am not responsible for any explosions, WMD’s, plague/famine/war you bring upon yourself for using this method. So don’t blame me if you break your game.
A couple of things changed. The database was changed and the save location was changed (for steam).
If you are using the Steam version, editing files at the original location (win7) C:\Users\ your name here \AppData\Local\Game Dev Tycoon\Local Storage, does nothing as the game won’t read it from there.
Note the location and the fact I am using the slot_auto save… Picture
Note the Research points that I have conveniently highlighted for you and the file path in the title bar of the window. Picture 2 Remember The folder name \12418693 will be different for you. Make sure you find the folder \239820\remote
Note the Research points at 1221. Apparently I can only place 2 links in my messages so you’ll need to copy and paste the following links into your browser
Note the value in game. Picture 3http://puu.sh/4h22R
Note the change in value. Picture 4 (save and close the file and remember to backup the original just in case)http://puu.sh/4h2gF
Note the change in game. Picture 5http://puu.sh/4h2jt
This @NakedFury most certainly does work. Please ensure you have used google and other tools at your disposal before refuting a method others need.
This involves basic searching and editing and I have given you as much information on how to do it as I can, without making a massive tutorial post or video
@vgs I will edit my original post to include your advice.
Thanks for the replies but I found the problem and it was like user vgs suggested.
Steam was using Cloud saves so all changes I made were overwritten. After disabling Cloud saves options I was able to edit the save file without problems.
Now I can have my cheat slot and my normal game slots.
Hey, before Steam release i was manually changing the values with SQLite Database Browser. But now you can forget this program because it doesn’t work and you don’t need it anymore. If u want to change Money, research points, character stats (tech, design, speed, research, lvl, salary), number of fans. Follow next steps.
Before we start you should make a copy of your save game (it is in a different location than before)
You will need to instal and use Notepad++ Link “http://notepad-plus-plus.org/”
Navigate to Steam folder and from there “\userdata"BIG NUMBER”\239820\remote" Big number everyone has its unique number!
2.Now you have to know which save slot you want to change (if it is your current game you will change “slot_auto” if it is 1st, 2nd, 3rd save slot then you will change slot_1 or slot_2 or slot_3. Now open desired slot with Notepad++ (right mouse click on the slot and chose Edit with Notepad++)
Now you will see some words, symbols and numbers (don’t freak out)
Find the desired values (values are at the end of a post) now it is editing time
After you changed everything you just click save (disk icon) and you are good to go (now values will be changed in game)
change character stats and put double what you want the number to be, with the decimal between the 1000’s and 100’s.(EG: “tF”:5.603 will give you 2801 techonogy in game
if you are new to modifying save data then really first make a backup of your save, if you do something wrong it could corrupt your save and it wouldn’t load any more.
any questions do ask
have fun with your 200 million cash while you start in a garage hehe
Is there any possibility to make my emplyees fix bugs faster? After editing design or technology or whatever to higher value, they also are making a lot of bugs (sometimes I have even 900 of them), but after finishing the project they fix’em one by one, which takes a lot of time.
I think qualityF will determine the number of bugs that is created? I’m not sure yet as I haven’t examined the impact of these variable too heavily yet. From what I remember (I’m not at my home PC right now) there should also be a variable called BugFixingDelta. I would assume this has something to do with the rate at which bugs are fixed, though I’m not sure if higher or lower is better.
