[REQ] Post Game Mod to Keep GDT still fresh?

Hey guys, I was thinking that someone should make a mod that keeps the game fresh even after the game ends. I feel as if there isn’t much for you to do once you unlocked everything and beat the story. So I thought of a few things that could be added for post game purposes only that will give you some more stuff to work towards unlocking and use to make even more high tech games. The main idea I had for this mod was to add new Research items, new features for developing consoles, DLC for all types of games (Not only MMO’s) and possibly more genres if possible. I have been looking over all the mods so far and I haven’t come up with many (if at all any) mods that bring in many of these features. Anyways, here are some ideas I had for this mod (Also just a quick mention, I won’t be saying anything that has already been in a mod already unless I think it is absolutely needed with some exceptions like graphics).

Leave your thoughts! Also, anyone can use these ideas if they want to put it into their mod as well or a mod they’re making. All I want to do is be able to actually get some (or all) of these ideas into a mod to actually play them myself and for anyone else who is interested in this as well!

Research Items:

HD Graphics V1-7 (Another type of Graphics to go along with 2D and 3D. V1 unlocked probably during mBox 360, Playsystem 3, & Nuu era)
Cell Shaded Graphics V1-5
Realistic GraphicsV1-5
(After reaching the highest HD graphics level, the graphics split into 2 options being Realistic and Cell Shaded)
Interactive Cutscenes
Lens Flare (Graphics effect)
Side Quests
Game Difficulty (You can make a game popular for it’s difficulty like Dark Souls!)
Multi Gamesaves
Gravity Physics
Multi Language Voice Acting
Apparel Customization
Character Customization
Competitive Play
Cheat Codes
Boss Battles
Destructive World (Basic)
Destructive World (Advanced)
Fully Destructive World
Bundle (Bundles the game with your custom console only)
Multi Topic Maybe?
THE 3 BELOW WERE SUGGESTED BY THEGAMINGCHAN N1 (Thanks for the brilliant ideas!)
First Person View (If you want a FPS or something)
Third Person View (If you want a TPS or any other game in Third Person like Zelda or Mario)
Sandbox Features (If you want to make your own GTA or Minecraft style game)

Custom Console Features

HD Graphics V1-7
Cell Shaded Graphics Optimized
Realistic Graphics Optimized
Blu Ray Enabled
Customizable Interface (Like the Xbox Dashboard)
Applications
Backwards Compatibility (Doesn’t actually affect game sales for previous consoles cause that would be too hard to program I’m guessing. It should just affect console sales, preformance, etc)
Motion Controls
Console RAM
Selection of Processors
MORE THAN 4 DIFFERENT CONSOLE SKINS TO CHOOSE FROM!!! (Not including colour variations)

Genres (Not topics)

Platformer
Fighting (Like Street Fighter, or Tekken, or Mortal Kombat, or… okay you get the idea!)
Party Games (Family Oriented like Mario Party or Just Dance)

Add-Ons/DLC

It could act as a mixture between the extensions for MMO’s and a sequel. It wouldn’t be a full game but the DLC will have it’s own seperate sales and wouldn’t affect the game’s actual sales but instead the game will be replaced with the spot of it’s DLC. But you can only make DLC for your most recent game. Also, seeing as DLC/Add-Ons are generally 2-8 hours long in play time (which is probably about a few months of work to make it) you should only be able to make DLC a small or medium size. And DLC should only be available for Large or AAA Games. Hopefully this is possible the way I described. :stuck_out_tongue:

awesome ideas!!

and multi-topic is cool!!

Good idea, we need a after-end mod.

However, I don’t like your genres idea, as FPS, TPS and Sandbox are more like features, not genres. Racing and sports are similar things and there are already topics for them. However, party games seems quite legit, so does platformer. They would be genres I’d have in my game.

Backwards compatibility is another one which I like the sound of. If we can make backwards compatibility (I’ll call it BC as its an ass to say all the time) connect to various other consoles, maybe previous good consoles (PS2, TES, SuperTES etc) then your console sales increase. Maybe make the console development similar to making a game.

While realistic Graphics could come after HD, I would not classify Cel Shading as “more advanced” than HD. That’s not to say Cel Shading is worse; to the contrary, I like the way it looks.

The thing is, Cel Shading came out in what would be the DreamVast/PlaySystem 2/GameSphere/mBox era in GDT. Games like Jet Set Radio, Cel Damage, Dark Cloud 2 / Dark Chronicle, the Sly Cooper series and many others from the early 2000s used it during a period in time between the low polygon count of Super Mario 64 and the HD era of the late 2000s onward.

As such, I would recommend having Cel shading be unlocked after a certain point in the 3D graphics line is about halfway researched, and have HD require the 3D line be fully researched. Just my 2 cents.

Man! Awesome ideas… wow!

@Twyster Yeah I am aware of this. My favorite game is Cel Shaded and came out in 2003. I just thought that it would be an interesting idea to have multiple specialty graphics you could focus in after the HD era to make it a bit more diverse and interesting. But I do know what you mean. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hmm, yeah I can see that. I really wanted there to be a way to make a shooter of any sorts or a sandbox style game and I think having them as selected features would actually be a better way to go! That is brilliant man! I just don’t want them as topics since topics are more for what the game is based on. Like I want to make a sci fi shooter game, or a military shooter. Having FPS/TPS as a topic just doesn’t seem right to me but having them as features I never even thought of! Cause then you could have like an RPG be first person like The Elder Scrolls games! I wish I can edit the post to change that now… xD Anyways, thanks for your input! I’m glad you like the backwards compatibility idea!

I think that these ideas needs its own document, where everyone can add them.
