Release games in a row

I was thinking why can you not release the same topic and genre in a row.Why not create a series that could be put out in a row.

Or a diverse library of the same topic/genre. How many fantasy RPGs has Square made over the years? How many had a buffer game-in between them? How many flopped for not having a buffer game?

I think that if a game franchise is popular enough and well reviewed and you make a string of the same game, it should not flop. Take Call of Duty for example. Through out the franchise’s history, it never flopped. Why? Because it was popular as heck. So I think that if a game is good enough and popular enough (Say, 9’s and 8’s and 50k fans), it should be good enough to sell.

This is actually one of my biggest gripes with this game. Plenty of companies make the same genre combo of games over and over and they are very successful. It should be okay to specialize.

I kind of cheat to get away with this since I always make an RPG company (what can I say, its my dream). I alternate between fantasy RPG and fantasy adventure, with the occasional tactics game to spice it up.

I try to research topics as fast as possible, as there are several that work well as RPGs. Fantasy, sci-fi, wild west, werewolf, cyberpunk, detective, school, etc. Sometimes weird combos work, like racing RPG. Since learning adventure games have about the same requirements as RPGs, I’ve started simply using those two genres 90% of the time. In my most recent new game, I didn’t even use any of the other genres. There are enough topics to make a diverse array of successful RPG and adventure games without doing two of the same thing in a row.

But we should totally be able to do two fantasy RPGs in a row. I wonder if this feature is Greenheart’s subtle way of saying their next game absolutely will not be a game development sim?

One thing people miss is that if you wait a couple years in-game then make the same thing the fans won’t mind. Like Call of Duty Infinity Ward releases a Call of Duty game every other year while Treyarch buffers for them in between.

To be honoust i never got the hype about C.O.D.

Basically a “new” game every year and the game does not really changes.

You’re playing the same game every year, but paying a lot of money every single time.

Maybe that’s why Greenhearts motto is:

Greenheart Games was founded in July 2012 by brothers Patrick and Daniel Klug with a mission to develop games that are fun to play instead of mind numbing money grabbers. Less social, less ville, more game is our current motto.

I didn’t know that. Nice touch of realism!

Thanks And Your Welcome.
