So I understand I may install Game Dev Tycoon on up to 3 machines, but my computer right now is in the shop being repaired for multiple issues during which they are going to replace my hard drive, motherboard, optical drive and a lot more of its guts plus reinstall the OS. When I reinstall GDT will this count as one of my 3 installs? Does it count which machine it is installed on, or how many times it is installed is my real question. And then since they are replacing virtually every part of my laptop in this fix, will it still recognize my computer as the first computer I have installed it on or will it think I am placing it on a second computer?
The game itself has no mechanism for checking how many times it has been installed. The 3 PC rule works on an honour system to encourage your friends to buy their own copies of the game. Since GDT is Greenheart Games’ only product at this time, they need the income to pay for continuing development of GDT and other titles.
Yeah I would not be giving it to anyone except those in my household, and that would only be my sister. I just wanted to make sure I was not going to lose the game entirely the next time my computer has to be rebuilt. It’s kind of old, but until the warantee expires I don’t plan on replacing it, so I just don’t want to find out I have to rebuy the game after my poor old laptop inevitably breaks again. And yes it does break that often, no i have never dropped it nor have I spilled anything on it, but things keep dying on it.
could it be an overheating issue?
I honestly think it is, the damn thing starts getting hot if I watch a 10 minute youtube video, and it should be able to handle that without a problem. I could understand overheating if I was playing Sims 3, but if I try to watch a DVD it turns off due to its heat half the time. I have explained this to the repair people at Dell several times when my computer has died, but every time I get it back it just does the same thing. It shouldn’t overheat for such minor programs, it was built to handle the playing of a bluray…
I honestly thought the title of this topic was telling me that you were “Reinstalling” your Questions.
Lmfao. Should I have titled it “Questions about Reinstalling” instead? I didn’t know I could install questions, let alone reinstall them
