Pre-Steam savegames to steam?

I just got the email with the steam key… thanks guys!

However now I’m just curious, since the game is not active, yet, will steam use the same directory for savegames?

In other words:
Will I be able to play my games from before? Can I delete the non-steam version?

Well, might as well wait ~2 hours and just see ;D

I thought @EvoGamer mentioned the save folder is the same and you can combine the website & steam version together.

Hi there,

The Steam edition can be installed alongside the Desktop edition without either effecting the other. The game files will be installed in your steamapps folder, and the saves and settings will create a new folder alongside the Desktop edition’s folder.

Thus the Desktop edition (on Windows 7&8) uses:

C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Game Dev Tycoon\

and the Steam edition will use:

C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Game Dev Tycoon - Steam\

EDIT:
To clarify, your saves will not be automatically be transferred over, but you should be able to copy the saves from one folder to another. However, given the range of changes in 1.4, I’d recommend you start a new game to experience all the update has to offer.

Ok, so I can copy them over! I guess.

Gotta give you praise for the fast response… seriously…
