What’s up guys! I just found this forum. I gotta say Game Dev Tycoon was a pleasant surprise, and I have been having a load of fun with it, been playing it basically with all my free time for the past 3 days. That said, there are quite a few things related to player feedback that I wish were implemented. Do you agree/disagree? Any other things that you think could be added?
–Highscore–
-
I really wish the highscore was more in depth than just a number. At
the end of the 30 year period, you get a list of really cool stats
like most popular genre and best selling game, but there is no way to
access that once you start a new game. I’d really like to that
information to be saved so I can access it again to compare it with
different play throughs. -
It sucks that you only have a score calculated when you actually BEAT
the game. I had to go through 3 playthroughs before I made it to year
30 without going bankrupt. I had some really cool games in those
playthroughs though (including a smash hit on the gameling, that made
me chuckle). Getting a Gameover shouldn’t deprive me of a high score
I can access.
–Staff–
I feel like the staff list interface is severely lacking.
-
The specializations you give to your staff should really be listed in the Staff Listing.
-
It would be really great to be able see the progression of the staff’s stats in some sort of line graph. Especially since training gives you diminishing returns if you train to early, it would make it easier to keep track of how/when you want to train your staff.
-
It is really sucks when a staff member starts to burn out right as you are starting development of a game. It would be nice to see a your staff members “stamina” so that you could plan their vacations ahead of time. (like a real job). That said, I feel like vacations are not harsh enough a penalty. If you give someone a vacation as soon as they begin to tire, there is almost zero downtime. There should be consequences and rewards to both giving your staff an early vacation, and making them work until the very last bit of their “stamina” runs out.
-
Related to the last one, I’d like to be able to give my staff a vacation at ANY point in time, regardless of how tired they are. That way I can send them all away, and make sure they are all fresh in preparation for my AAA Virtual Pet Strategy/RPG.
–Game Development–
Actually , I first want to say that the game history page is very well done, and give me a lot of information that I want to know about my previous games. That said, there are a few more things I feel could be added.
- I’d like to be able to go back and research on how I built a game in past. Where I dedicated sliders, who I assigned to a category, what features I added, the marketing budget, whether a Game conference took place during development, that sort of thing. That way, when my Mature Vampire Simulation flops hard, I can come back 10 years later, see what I did wrong, and try to fix it, rather than guess at what I did last time.
None of this actually changes that game itself, as far as balance goes (except maybe some of the stamina suggestions) Sorry this message turned out so long, hope you read it though!
