Optimize for non-Widescreen displays?

I often have trouble with parts of the game being left off-screen; it may have been mentioned before but perhaps you could make the UI adjustable? Like, at the very least have an option in Settings to adjust the UI display ratio; I often have to guess dev costs due to being unable to see the per-phase cost save for one column of pixels.

Same problem here too. The only way to see the whole screen of the game, you have to change your screen resolution. And i think that’s the only way to fix that problem now. So i wish that @Charlie could add this in the next update.

What resolution are you guys using?

Also you can make the game run in windowed mode and adjust the game window to an appropriate size and shape.
At least this works for me on 1920x1080. I have not confirmed if this works for people running below the minimum spec resolution.

Signing this. Im playing this game often in 1024x768 window (4:3) and Im missing the most of the left and right parts of UI windows. Especially in game development. Would be fine to resize whole UI (smaller texts would do the job)

Hmm, 1024x768 is even listed as the minimum resolution. I’ve never run it either that small, or in any 4:3 resolution, personally.

1124x1024 is my default. My monitor is pretty much square so all other below-2000 resolutions look wrong on it.

Have you tried swapping to windowed mode then dragging the box edges to make it a square shape?
When i test things in Game Dev Tycoon i often use the Windows 7 feature to drag it to the left and have it fill up only half my screen while i type up a report and it works very well.

No, but when I just did it made it worse. As far as I can tell the UI doesn’t resize even if the screen is really tall+skinny. Maybe it’s a Steam-version thing?

No, its old bug from at least 1.3. So I guess its not considered yet. UI is still same even after resizing by windows on side or anyhow. UI is still bigger than actual window :frowning:

I would hope that when they fix it they let the screen update when you quit resizing - otherwise, lag galore :stuck_out_tongue:

The resolution 1124x1024 does not exist according to;

The closest we can find is 1152x864 so we tested that and it is working correctly.

This is how the game looks for me in window mode at 1920x1080 (I know that is widescreen but as you can see i can make the game box run as a rectangle)

Can you please show us a screenshot of how it looks for you and check your resolution?

This is a quick snap. The game won’t go any smaller than this for me, I triple-checked and this is 1152x1024.

Aha i found 1152 here;

So your monitor’s native res is 1024 by what? 1024x768?
And your choosing to run at a non native?

Our min supported is 1024x768 (But higher is needed to be able to see the edges of the screen).
I will pass your screenshot to the devs to compare to their own tests.

Its not about native res of monitor. I have 1920 x 1200 but playing this most of the time in window at 1024x 768. And I cann see UI same as AGaruna posted.
