I have just joined the list of buyers of the game not too long ago and am quite pleased with the purchase. I have used the demo and watched lets play videos to get used to the features of the game. I’ve played through the game several times since purchasing the game and I’ve got a lot figured out, but for some reason I don’t seem to be as successful as I believe I could be. I usually amass enough cash to advance to the second level safely around year 4 or 7, depending on the success of my games (which seems to not be it’s best all the time). I was wondering, with possible help from the longer timed players, where the average advancement level in terms of cash and year is for the two level advancements. Note, I can barely get a console released (sometimes not at all) by the end of the 30th year. After looking up posts on the review score and downloaded tools to help determine my game’s success, I’ve looked into the tech/design ratio of my games. I’ve noticed, despite all attempts, that it is quite off at times than what it should be (I.E 0.8 for an RPG, 0.5 for an Adventure, 1.5 for Action, etc.). Could I get some expert tips? I’ve tried going flat perfect on the sliders and even tried starting out with sliders being off from perfect and improving, but things tend to work out the same way. Help?
Most likely your staff is off balance.
If you are making Tech heavy games make sure you have more Tech, because the sliders are only a tiny bit to get the T/D ratio right.
Lately I’ve worked with an off-balance team (my last 2 play-throughs) and have quite improved in levels 2 and 3. right now my off-balance is in the garage. At about the differences I mentioned before. Right now my games average at a 6-6.5 ratings in the garage, doesn’t matter how long I stay in there and I know I can do better than that, but not sure what’s preventing better scores. If I can fix that, I know I can improve throughout the entire game.
When in the Garage making for example making Action/Strategy/Sim games, using the slider settings below you will score a 9+ after 7-8 games.
Off course it can go faster if you make a custom engine after 3-5 games.
100/50/0 0/50/100 0/100/50
Try that, perhaps your slider settings are a bit off.
One thing is very important and that is never use to much of a unimportant slider for a genre.
( Like Dialog for action games )
Maybe it’s the engine. I do use the appropriate slider positions (Or I could be mis-judging by a little bit), but I usually make my engine after the 7th game. Could be key.
Try using your engine earlier and add one feature at a time, so your engine will have more use.
