ANSWERED - What happens if I purchase Game Dev Tycoon on my first PC and then later when I get a new PC could I transfer my Game Dev Tycoon over to my new PC?
Yes, you can.
The only thing that matters is your game installation file. Or link to download it
There is no problem in installing it on your new PC. Always keep your dowload link if you have on in your mail save.
I Installed the game on my desktop for optimal play and on my laptop if i want to be lazy and play in bed
Game Dev Tycoon is DRM-free. You are allowed to install the game on up to 3 computers for personal use, but there is no code in the game to enforce this.
If you purchase the Desktop edition, then you should keep your order receipt email as that contains your download link for installing the latest version of the game (this is also how you update the game).
If you purchase the ModernUI edition (or the Steam edition, once released), then use the Windows 8 Store (or Steam) to install and update the game.
NB: Steam keys will be provided to all who purchase the Desktop edition upon release.
With no code or other DRM to enforce the 3-computer limit, I’d like to remind people that it’s polite to adhere to it. If you’re using the game on a great many systems, or you’re still using it after several system upgrades, you’re getting an unusual amount of value out of it. Gratitude to the devs keeps unusually valuable things going.
Not that this matters just yet if you’re only going to be using it on 2 computers, granted.
Whats the ModernUI Edition about. Could you please explain the ModernUI Edition as I have never heard of this from GreenHeart Games.
ModernUI is what Microsoft calls the Windows 8 version of the Metro interface. They changed the name for legal reasons. Basically, if you buy the game from the Windows 8 Store, then you have the ModernUI edition.
