My suggestions c:

Hey guys!

First of all, I’d like to congratulate the Klug brothers on making a pretty solid, fun and cheap game that has kept me entertained for a pretty good while now. Good job and thank you for all the fun!

However, there are a few things that I’d personally love to see improved in patches/expansions/sequels and I figured I might as well spread them here  Alright, here goes…

1: Fan and media interaction

This one I deem to be one of the more ‘fun’ suggestions I have. As it works right now, fans seem to be a sort of… useless. For example: One of my latest games ( Hardcore Ballet Dancing ) had the ‘undiscovered bugs’ event happen to it, but I forgot to patch the game. This meant that some people were so pissed off about my epic Ballet game being buggy that they no longer wanted to be fans of my company. A whole 600 of them. Of 10 million people. Derp?

So what I’d like to suggest when it comes to the marketing side of the game: We need to go deeper. I’d like to have actual interviews with journalists, in which I can pick between 2-3 different answers on questions they ask me. These could then have an actual effect on the hype of the game or it’s review rating. Or perhaps add a research option for more direct contact with your fans? (I mean, hey, you’re doing so as well.)

Example:

A journalist ask your character if your next Sci-Fi RPG is going to focus a lot on it’s story and Quests. You’re given three options to answer with: ‘Yes’, ‘No’ And ‘We don’t know yet’. You tell the journalist that the game will indeed focus a lot on quests. However, in the development, you decide you’re going to be a f*king troll and focus on Graphics. The joke is going to be on you though, as reviewers will mercilessly stomp you into the ground for creating a bad story.

2: Altering the review mechanism (?)

I’m treading on thin ice when it comes to this topic, as I’ve only read bits and pieces about it how it actually works on the GDT wiki so bear with me… If I’m correct, the game currently rates your newly developed games based on your previous best game (In terms of D/T points). Even though I realize how this makes sense, I feel like the way the system currently works should only work when it comes to sequels. I don’t think it’s reasonable that “Game Hero” Shits all over my new Martial Arts Action game because my School RPG was better…

Also, a much more detailed review would help soooooo much. It’s incredible how frustrating it is when I make a new game and I get the word “Meh!” 4 times. What’s “Meh!”? If these people could make a living for themselves writing only the words “Beautiful” and “Meh!” my god, sign me up!

3: A Story and a Arcade Mode

Seems self-explanatory. It’s pretty neat that the game follows gaming history: The Comodore didn’t last all that long, Sony was a real douchebag when they announced the PS3… but what if that didn’t happen?

I think it would be a really cool idea to have a mode that would create historically incorrect events. It would add a lot of replay value to the game. Wouldn’t it be funny if Sega would rule over the current generation consoles with their… Beamcast? This does obviously mean that a lot of additional platforms need to be thought of, but I feel like it would be very cool!

4: Fix MMO’s

My God. MMO’s. It’s like the opposite of a cashsink, it’s a cash fountain of rainbows and happiness.
The MMO’s earn way too much money if done properly in my opinion. It wouldn’t even be such a bad thing if MMO’s weren’t one of the latest game sizes. All that money you earn with them can hardly ever be spent, which really takes away from that “Oh sh*t this game better be good or else I’m done for.” atmosphere the game creates. Sadly enough, I don’t really have any solid ideas on how to improve that system other than 'Make it less profitable."

5: R&D department.

Even though it has some cool stuff in there at first, after a good 2-3 hours of maximum budget the R&D only seems usefull for hosting the occasional convention… And that’s it. What bout making the R&D a Cashsink, able to creating different themes for your office and other cosmetical stuff after the technical stuff is done?

Anyway, hope you guys like (some of) my ideas, feel free to express your amazing opinion or point out something you don’t agree with.

First idea is awesome

All ideas are very good in my opinion and should be tweaked/implemented, they do very well covering the needed aspects of the game, but I don’t see why GHG should make different modes when they can just focus on the main game.

  1. At the end of the game, the R&D Lab & The Hardware become useless to spend money on…this needs to be more deeper as you said because it gets boring after everything is researched :L

Great Ideas you have there. It would be great if all this stuff will be implemented in the game.
And yes, the reviews of your games are a bit short but sometimes you do’nt want to know more. Maybe a button with shows extended reviews when you click it would be helpful.

But saying that Citi, going more in-depth about reviews would require other aspects of the game to get tweaked so its all balenced.
