Hi ! I’ve found your guidance for GDT on the net (I’ve downloaded the pdf from your DropBox) and I was wondering if you allow me to translate it in french ?
Regards,
Good ahead
Hello, I was wondering if you could let me see your video on how the basic sliders work, or more exactly, how to make a better game each time, since I do quite well with the sliders, but I don’t understand how can I make a better game without making a new engine?
The video is not available.
The video was / is very outdated.
However the sliders are quite easy to understand with the game report feature.
To make ‘better’ games, you’ll need to:
Allocate the time to each development stage properly.
It’s not an exact science, just don’t for example allocate more then 20% to something that is really not important for a genre
Increase the total of the Tech and Design points by about 13% at least.
If the previous game had 100 in total, the next game should have at least 113 ( taken that the previous game score a 9+)
Achieve this by:
adding new engine features ----- No need to make a new engine
Train yourself and your staff ----- Do this gradually
Be careful with sequels, last time I checked they added a ‘game quality’ bonus, meaning you’ll get a higher score much easier. This could making the next game a lot more challenging.
Also don’t expect to score 9+ games every single time, the game does have randomness, so T/D generation could be lower then expected for example.
