Medium vs Large Games? Whats the difference

I am currently developing medium based games, making a few million per release. However how much more intense is it to create large based games? Do I need at least 6 staff and more money?

yes you should have 5-6 staff members i cant tell you if you need more money because i don’t know how much you have :smiley:

You also should do Large Games only with an publisher until you have enough fans (the game tells you when that happens)

I have saved up around 200mil. Still working in the technology park, not on level 3. Worried I will start losing money. I have around 420k fans.

I waited till ~500K fans before doing large games self-published. Just make sure to use good combinations and the right platform and you’ll be fine.

Once you can self publish there really isnt any point in using publishers again.

A large game costs 10x as much to start, and 2x the cost for each phase of development, and yes you really do need 5-6 staff as each step tires out the person doing each step a ton more.

If you have 200 mill, expand to and get the last 2 staff members, you should be able to do large games.

I’ve been finding, to my confusion and dismay, that medium titles can outperform large ones. This is even moreso when the increased speed of release for medium titles is taken into account. When should I switch to large titles? I already have enough fans that I got the ‘we can self publish’ message.
