Making Arcade games

What it adds:

New genre: Arcade and Platform
Example: Super Mario Bros. (Fantasy/Arcade/Platform)
New type of platform: Arcade

Making a Arcade based platform.

It’s very risky to make an arcade game unless it’s a very addicting game and it has a good rating. First you develop and code the game, then you need to have the materials to make the box for the game, and you need to buy them while making an arcade. (Plastic, circuitry, the buttons, etc.) You can ask help in a factory that makes an arcade, it’ll will be a lot faster to build but it will cost a lot more (probably 100K). You can choose between a small and a medium game.(medium games are more expensive, obviously) And no Large and AAA games, because arcade games have the purpose to play for some minutes in maximum.
Time to make the game, Small = 2 months, Medium = 4 months.
Time to build the box for the game = 1 month. (with factory, 1 week)
Time to install circuitry = 2 months. (with factory, 2 weeks)
After you finished making the whole arcade game you can choose between three options.
1-Asking to put the game in a local bar. 2-Asking to put in a quality restaurant. 3-Asking to put in a big mall.
Cost. 1- 50K and with a 50% royalty fee. 2- 200K and a 40% royalty fee. 3- 500K with a 25% fee.
In a bar you receive about a 1K every month, In a restaurant about 5K. In a mall you receive 10K. But that obviously depends on the rating.
To gain popularity with the arcade game you must contact a company (through random events) that makes them, (for example, Ninvento or Vena) They bring 4 guys to assess your game. If it receives a rating between 7-10, they will accept and they will bring you a contract. You decide what royalty fee you want. To start the funding to make the arcades you must pay:
1% to 10% royalty = 1K - 10K
11 to 24% = 11 - 50K
25 to 50% = 51 - 200K
51% to 70% = 201K - 1M (with 50K - 100K every month)
I recommend staying with 50% if it’s a game below 10.
They will start making the game and publish them across the world. Then you start gaining real money.
Note: Until year 20 they are very popular but then they drop the popularity.
Sorry if you don’t understand nothing! :stuck_out_tongue:

Is it difficult to implement?

Probably.

I’d appreciate the option to make arcade games as well. You could get rental income for renting out the machines, much like you get income in the MMO genre. Old machines could be taken back from rental and updated to the latest game.

Of course it’s not in Game Dev Story so it won’t happen

FYI the first video games were arcade games installed into bars and pubs, but the arcade machine evolved alongside the early 8-bit machines.

It would be cool if you could carry on making Arcade games as your company grew.

Or maybe add an option to the game that lets you start as an Arcade Game Maker.
