So, a pretty long while ago when I first found out about this game I instantly wanted it.
Yet I’m a Windows 7 user, so I installed VMWare with a windows 8 installation to emulate and play the demo, where after I bought the game and had some fun with it, but I found it hard since it was almost completely random.
Now that the Steam version got released and I’m eager to add it to my library collection for another shot, I found out we can only get the key inside the game. I now have my very own built game PC and sold my laptop, so I don’t have the VMware anymore.
Now I was wondering, do you think the update is worth it? Explain with some reasons
If I get convinced I’ll just skip the emulating part and buy an other copy through steam or this site with a steam key attached
Yes, 1.4 is worth it, it has a bunch of new stuff that the old Game Dev Tycoon didn’t have. Get it anyways, because the devs will force you to get it when your submitting bug reports to them.
Any details on what makes it so much better or the old version didnt have?
And what do you mean with that last sentence? If it’s worth it I’d just buy it again on Steam to support the devs for this nice game

Totally worth it !
Learning curve has improved tremendously, because of the game feedback reports.
Remembering topic/genre combos and slider settings for 50+ games was hard enough.
I’ll say yes and no. At the plus side, the learning curve is much improved and the new research feature makes it a lot more easier. There is also updated systems and plenty of other things that makes the game better.
On the negative side, I found that it was TOO easy and that it didn’t have much of a challenge. Maybe instead of achievements, they could add little challenges that pops up every now and then for extra XP or a new research part or something. But other than that, I think it’s a fairly good update, which improves on a lot of things, but there should be more challenge.
I knew they were updating the game but I didn’t realise it would fix so much, have to go play it now!
Best update ever. It feels like the same game, except better.
wait why do you need the VMware? this game runs on windows 7 fine >_>. or is it that you have windows 8?
The game is… well, i’m just gonna say yes, yes, and no. The new updates are nice and the tutorials are a bit more in-depth. But the game is kinda. and i said KIND OF harder. So… 2/3 recommendation from me.
If you had read my post a bit better, I said I have Windows 7 but when I found out about this game it was a Windows 8 Only title. So I bought it there, a few weeks after however the Win7 title was released.
