Is it possible to order from fastspring and get the desktop version instead of a steam code? My friend wants to buy the game but he doesn’t want to get it on steam because he doesn’t have steam and he doesn’t want to download it for a single game.

I clearly must have misread it because it says that you get a steam key with your order. 
you get a steam key and download, so you have the choice
You get a Steam Key WITH your order. That means there’s more then just the Steam Key.
