Implement a ESRB Game Rating with (Target Audience) Feature

We have Young, Everyone, Mature but The Devs should implement
the real http://www.esrb.org/ratings/ratings_guide.jsp

like Teen, Adults Only and
Early Childhood for Education Games.

or If you ever implement (shelve a game) before u release it… It should incl. RATING PENDING [RP], and It’s Something to consider for GDT in a future updates.

To Clarify,
The Target Audience Feature should have more innovation built in to make sure the game rating is proper and not low that the game falls thru when Trends/Strong Audience and Other comes into play. If the developers implement a such future for Game Rating or Auto Assign it would be more a Challenge.

ESRB is a US standard. Greenheart has an Australian address and their website is hosted in Europe. The game is sold globally. So does a US standard ratings system still make sense?

Yes, because ESRB is used around the world, not only United States.

this picture is aus. classification rating system its the same as us system esrb

Same Thing. Applies to our rating as Aus Rating

UPDATE HERE IS THE CORRECT FORM:

General (AUS) - Everyone (ESRB)
PG/M (AUS) - Teen (ESRB)
MA 15+/R 18+ (AUS) - Mature (ESRB)
X 18+ (AUS) - Adults Only (ESRB)

ESRB states on their own website they are a US/Canadian standard. Most countries and regions use their own systems if they use any at all.

The Target Audience feature is not a game rating system. Pokemon (for example) is clearly aimed at a Young audience (the protagonists are 10 year old kids, the cartoons are on prime kids tv, the ‘violence’ is non-bloody and non-lethal), whereas a game like Civilization is considered a Mature game (yet rated E-10+ by the ESRB).

There is no rating system in use within the game. If such a system was added, then the developer would likely not be able to choose, but instead be assigned a rating at the end (based on both the target audience and the sliders perhaps). And the system supported by the most countries is actually the PEGI (Pan-European Gaming Information) system.

Refresh the page for my clarification. on the Target Audience Feature. that should make sense and thanks for the reply @EvoGamer.

I say we use an education rating system instead.

Games can have these classifications:

  • Suitable for kids who have repeated a grade
  • Suitable for college students
  • Suitable for PhD candidates

they can make up there own rating system for the game… ex: Y for Young E for Everyone… 13+ FOR TEENS… 18+ FOR adults

X18+ don’t really matter, the Australian Government have successfully passed the law that its mainly R18+ for most games and below.
