Ideas for Topics

I was thinking of topics and I thought of some great ones like zombie and survival that they could have used and maybe there should have been a mixing 2 topics like they mix genres. I would have liked to make a AAA survival horror game.

I’d think Survival kind of falls under Simulation and/or Strategy, but I can see it being a useful genre to add.

FIRST AND THIRD PERSON SHOOTERS OF COURSE! but not as topic you should be able to research them and put them in game… like it should be apart of game play when you make a game.

I think the amount they have right now is fine, if they add like 10 more is acceptable but some shouldn’t be there (Such as Vocab?) so if some get taken out and re-written or just taken out and replaced, it could work.

Crime topic would be amazing.

I think there should be more detailed sections…

Sports = Football /golf / wrestling etc

Action = Shoot em ups / Platformers

and more specific genres like Puzzle / tycoon etc

Agreed, it’s nonsensical that ‘Sports - Simulation’ describes everything from FIFA to Madden to Football Manager. This is something that really needs sorting out. Also, why are topics even researchable? The entire list should be open to choose from, from day one. As if any company starting out for the first time only knows how to make sports games and military sims but have no ideas about how to make a zombie game. Either everything should be researchable from the start and you pick exactly the topics you want from the entire list, or nothing should be researchable and everything should be open. This arbitrary limiting of what your company knows/doesn’t know it ridiculous. As if my multi-million pound international best selling company wouldn’t have the idea for a spy game until they had been in business for forty years…

Yes, and if you could like I said mix topics, have a crime city game = GTA

Exactly!

If you make a football game, you’d want good A.I, but if you made a golf game, then A.I wouldnt matter as much

It’s not knowing about them or only a few, you research what is needed to make one and how to go about it, you can’t just go I’m going to make a FPS and not know how to make them, yes you might have played one, but do you know how to code one and draw the graphics for one, and make the gun zoom in when pressing a button no you wouldn’t you’d have to do some digging and learning before you could make it. It takes time to learn how to make things for games, that people now see as common things in games now. Research is a must.

Survival would be a topic not a theme, but it’s something we could use,

there’s a couple topics that are incredibly popular, even AAA titles in the real world, that don’t exist in GDT, these are not all necessarily popular , but some of them are. and should be added to the game, to make up for a lot of the useless ones, like Fashion and Vocabulary.

Crime , Good for Action, Adventure, possibly stragety
Survival Stragety, Simulation, possibly action
Police Depending on what Law’s combos are, i’m not sure of them
Building/Construction, Simulation, Stragety, Casual.

Like I wanted to make a spoof of Grand theft auto, but there’s no real similar topic for it,

and I’m making a Police game right now, but I’m using Law and Simulation, it could be a complete bomb since I’m new to the topic.
