Ideas for improvement of GDT

Here are some Ideas that I’ve had for this game.

Multi-Topics

Pretty Self explanatory, I would like to select up to 2 topics when making my games (could be research like multi-genre)

Game Announcement

Once you are finished with a Stage in Development, you get an option to announce the game to the world (officially that is)

IPs

  1. Have a Button labeled Create or Register new IP. Once you click on you can select up to 2 Topic and Genres. (i.e. Time Travel/Fantasy Adventure-RPG) Then you give it a name, (i.e. Remember Me.) This button replaces the sequels button.
  2. When you go to make a new game there are Three new boxes for you to choose an option from: One called Pick IP (This is where you would pick from one of your IPs) The other box: Game Type (New Game, Sequel, Spin-off, DLC, Expansion, Crossover, Reboot, Remake, etc.) The Last is where you select the Game in the IP that you would like to model this one (i.e. a Spin-off of Final Fantasy being FF Tactics) Note that it would be grayed out if you select new game.
  3. Once you select this it should place Topic(s)/Genre(s) respectively.
  4. If One IP gets too many games with bad reviews the next installment won’t get much attention.
  5. IPs with lots of Fans get extra Hype when you announce it.

Exclusive Deals

Perhaps you are good friends with the guys at Vonny or Ninvento and you want one of your IPs to be exclusive to their platforms. This would give you a discount on developing this IP on their systems, but also a severe penalty if you break it.

Launch Titles

I think it would be great I you could make a launch title for a console - perhaps this would require an exclusivity deal to be signed. This could be a great way to launch your own console too.

Buying Other IPs

A random event that allows you to buy one of the already implemented IPs from a company (i.e. Dinkey King) A great way to sink that cash late game.

Publisher/Developer Control of IPs

You know that middle part of the game – the only part where contracts are useful - what if developing game for publishers caused conflict to who owned the IP? If I make a game for Ninvento maybe there is joint ownership, and this would lead to exclusive deals being signed. You might be able to buy the other half of the IP at a later point in the game.

What do you think of these Ideas? I would love it if Greenheart would think about them, or if even some modders could come up with something like I’ve suggested.
