I would like to hear some feed-back on this idea from you guys (this awesome community )
I want to pick up modding again, but not by continuing my expansin pack mod. The new project would be something like this:
A mod that makes the game/mods more realistic.
At the moment, I’ve only played around with the audience weightings so I’m not really sure how this mod is going to turn out.
Planned features:
Audience weightings are created by the genre weigthings of the topic. A topic great at action/simulation/strategy would be a mature game for example.
Certain words used in the game title could lead to a bad score.
And well… That’s basically all what I have now. So as you can read, it’s not that much. Which means: I need ideas for features that could fit perfectly in this mod!!

I know this would be something you would probably add to your expansion mod. But have day one game releases for new consoles. Atleast in the newer generations. I know that’s been thrown around this forum a lot, but nobody has done it.
I think a word-filter isn’t the right way. I like your idea, but what if I have a medieval action-rpg. Named “Viola - A Princess Tale”? So to avoid this to happen, you would be “forced” to reveal the triggering words and then it wouldn’t be funny anymore.
I got some suggestions:
Do you think it would be possible to add something like an age rating institute? For example you develope a FPS and want to hit a 18+ rate, but the institute gives you a 12+ rating, so your shooter wouldn’t be attractive for adults anymore and the “kiddies” don’t want to play it neither because it’s “not cool”.
Is there any possibility to enabling sending employees to vacation, without fatigue trigger?
I don’t know if it’s possible (didn’t lookaround) it’s a spontaneous idea to add more genre? Than “rythym/dance”, business, racing, are rather genre than topics. GDT for example is a Software-Developement (Topic) | Business-Simulation (Genre). NFS is a car (topic) arcade-racegame, Gran Turismo is (or wants to be) a Car (Topic) | Simulation-Racer, Skydrift a plane | arcade-racer.
Is it possible to cancel games in development or researches? Didn’t try, so far.
I think another addition would be a game test/beta option that would be available after doing research.
This will pop up hidden bugs faster as well as generate more hype.
There will also be a fee to run the test/beta that will vary depending on the size of the game.
This option will pop up just after the 3rd stage. Which will allow more hype after the hype typically levels off and a faster release.
I have been lurking on the forum for quite a bit of time and even made some of my own mods but just for my own use… anyway, would be nice to see some added realism to the game. Here;s a few other random ideas:
Pre-Orders – would be cool to add to the Hype factor of the game and to see how well your game could go…
-Publishers or Consumers demanding games release on-time or a specific time (to go with preorders)
-Premium Editions - pay upfront for some goodies to add into a more expensive bundle
-More details/changes to the Online Store R&D feature
-Sinusoidal economy effects on the gaming industry (i.e. stock market crash, etc.)
-Would also be cool to see some sort of random console generator after the existing consoles expire (or should expire) so the game keeps going (without mod packs)
