I think my hard drive is failing… i keep getting black screens and i keep getting this
Probably just Windows messing with your harddrive, it doesn’t exactly handle it elegantly. One big problem is “overloading” thus crashing the harddrive, this terminates the write streams on Linux but not on Windows. Not trying to say Linux is better, but Windows just doesn’t have the same “security” (not just in terms of privacy but in hardware too) as Linux because of speed and user friendliness
Try loading a GParted USB-pen and take a look at your partitoning, you might have to reformat it Do you know if you’re using GPT or MBR? GPT comes with UEFI and MBR comes with Legacy boot.
Here’s a guide on how to check.
Good luck!
I just tested out a discourse feature. My fault. One sec…
EDIT: There you go!
No problem Try hard-resetting your computer. Turn it off completely, (and any devices connected to it. If its a laptop, take out the battery too) unplug your power cord and hold down the power button for around 30 seconds. There is no risk of doing this, don’t worry Now, retrace the steps. Tell me if it works!
No problem
omg, my computer has been a nightmare today, i have defiantly had a issue with my HDD , it was 100% activity with only 4 proceses using 0.1mb/s, windows just “repaired” the drive though
If you think there’s something wrong with your HDD, you can download CrystalDiskInfo (Link to portable version) and you can check if your hard drive is damaged. If your HDD is in good condition, but everything is slow, maybe you have malware.
