I have Windows 8 version. How do I check for an update for a steam key?

I’ve been waiting for this update, and I can’t find how to actually install the update. I go to the store, go to Game Dev Tycoon, and in the “Details” section, it says that the game is v1.4.2, however, when I go into my game, it says v1.2.0. HOW DO I UPDATEEEEE
