Are the 1.4.0 patch for Game Dev Tycoon, and the Steam release both coming out on August 29, 2013?
Since the majority of the content for the 1.4.0 patch is for the Steam release, then yes. However, the update may not be released simultaneously for all existing platforms (Win8 ModernUI, Windows Desktop, Mac, Linux).
So the update will come for Steam release and PC, and probably mac, but not the rest, for a few extra days?
I can’t really say for certain. @PatrickKlug or @Charlie would be better suited to offer a definite answer, but I’m simply saying don’t be too disappointed if the update is delayed on one or more platforms (ie, it’s up to Microsoft when the ModernUI update will be deployed).
However the Steam drop date is 100% confirmed as the 29th for Windows and Mac, and Steam will carry 1.4.0 at a minimum. GDT should be available for Steam on Linux ASAP.
Yeah, I agree with you, I don’t expect it to be out on all platforms, if that was the case, I would of expected a early-mid September release. Same with the last few updates, it took a week more for the other platforms, but they got them.
Will we be able to somehow get our copy of Game Dev on steam?

If you purchase the game from the GHG Store, or the Windows Store, you will receive a Steam key when they become available next week. If you buy the game on Steam, you will not receive a copy of the Desktop (GHG Store) or ModernUI (Win Store) editions.
