This is basically directed at anybody who has problems progressing through the game, frustrated about game being too hard, clueless about why he keeps getting bad review scores, and so on so forth. Basically, if you suck at the game or want to become very good at it, this is for you.
I wrote an article on the wiki that explains everything.
Be warned: this may take away a lot of entertaintment value out of the game for you, because you would not be able to figure out everything for yourself, and this game is largely based on figuring out stuff by yourself (after you know how it works it stops being AS interesting and charming as it was before you knew it).
I wrote about that in explanation on features (beginning of the document)
Features do not directly affect sales or review at all. Features increase amount of D/T contributed to the field by approximately 100% while feature is developed.
For example, let’s assume 1 benefit point takes 1 week to implement (I do not know how much time it takes to develop 1 benefit points exactly, so let’s just assume its 1 week).
Let’s assume that over the course of 4 weeks developing Gameplay with no enabled features, using your current crew, you earn an average of 80D and 20T, total of 100 points.
If you would have assigned 3 features worth 1 benefit point each to Gameplay (like, Joystick + Steering Wheel + Gamepad), you would have earned 75% more - 140D and 35T for a total of 175 points, because for 3/4 of the time spent developing Gameplay, you would produce double the amount.
If you would have assigned 1 feature worth 10 benefit point to Gameplay (Virtual Reality Headset) you would have earned 100% more, and feature would end up only be 40% implemented - in order to get full benefit from the feature, you would need to spend 10 weeks on developing Gameplay.
No, countrary to popular belief, it does not matter what features you do or do not assign to your project. Gamepad, Joystick, Wheel - it does not matter, they are all just worth their benefit points and that’s it (so, Martial Arts Sim with Wheel is as good as Martial Arts sim with Gamepad)
Thanks so much for posting this! I’ve been following the game dev page but this puts a little more context on it.
I have to say it feels kind of weird following a guide while playing, but since I’m still new to it I feel there is enough room for experimentation that it hasn’t ruined it.
