I doubt he uses random torrents and if he does he would be a moron. And again, you don’t run a cracked game as root or with highened priviligies.
Regardless, it’s no where close to a virus-free system.

I have download torrents with high seeders and with positive feedback. I don’t torrent enough to know any trusted members. To be honest, I never pay attention, I just look at the feedback and seeders. And I don’t/have never gotten a virus from torrenting.

I haven’t gotten malware from an internet download since middle school. All you need is to be a little careful. A skeptical mindset is much better than any antivirus software.
As for watching videos of gameplay, you’re not the only person to suggest this to me. I just don’t think it’s the same thing. To revisit my earlier analogies, I don’t buy clothes online at all, even if my brother who is shaped much like me says the clothes fit him very well. I don’t buy cars without driving them, even if I’ve heard hours of testimonials about how good the car feels to drive. Following this same logic, I don’t buy a game I haven’t tried, even if I’ve seen an hourlong video of someone else playing the game. To me, watching a gameplay video is incomparable to actually playing the game. To me, it’s analogous to investing in a restaurant just because the food LOOKS like it might be tasty. I see a very big difference between seeing and doing, and no way to reconcile this difference without actually doing.
