How did you get Discourse?

How did you get discourse? It said it was in beta testing and it only wanted 3 forums to use it. So, how did you get it? Is it possible to get it? (with paying ofcourse)

If you yourself are interested in setting up a forum, you have two options:

  1. Self-installed - this implies that you have access to a server. See the Install Guide on Github: https://github.com/discourse/discourse/blob/master/docs/INSTALL-ubuntu.md
  2. Hosted - one option that I am aware of is https://www.discoursehosting.com/ which is owned by @michaeld. You can probably find others through searching.

However, any additional discussion probably belongs on meta.discourse.org.

I’m pretty sure that the GHG have gone with Option 1 and set it up themselves.

Correct, we did set the Discourse forum ourselves. This is during the early days of Discourse project

ayy how’d you get ninja rank @_@

Yes, but you have to mess with VM’s, and Ruby on rails? Or am I wrong? Because I was looking into it, and it scared me a bit :b

Not sure what you meant on messing around those stuffs. We just deploy the Discourse application, then keep it up to date.

Early days were tricky due to lack of documentation. It’s easier nowadays.

I’m the sysop, I just thought of “ninja” cause I’m supposed to be invisible

Deploy the Discourse application? I’m confused by that:b
Is it like installing MyBB? Or different?

Yep, just like that

Well, thats easy

Aren’t you supposed to be hidden now?
