Help - No Research Unlocking as I Level

I’ve started a few new games as I’ve been playing the last couple of days, trying to strike the right balance of working out of the garage and then moving to a new office so that I don’t do too much too soon.

However, the last three times I’ve tried a new game, I don’t receive any more research opportunities other than Target Audience and Casual Games. No research for 3D, Mono Sounds, or any of the others I should be getting as I level. I’ve now reached level 3 and still can’t create my own game engine because there are no choices, no research. Did I bug or otherwise screw up my game? Do I have to uninstall and reinstall and thus lose all the info I’ve gained? Is anyone else experiencing this problem, and is there a quick fix?

On all my previous games, I know I’ve had research opportunities before this that allow for me to start building a custom game engine. I’m on my fourth year of game, level 3, and nothing…

Did you research the Custom Game Engine research itself? New research options won’t unlock until you complete that research.

First, you should research game engines, a research you have from the beginning for 50 RP if my memory is correct.
Then, you should make your own game engine (preferably with 2Dv2 graphics).
The graphic engines unlock for research as you make games with them : once you have levelled you team’s skill with one version of graphic engine to lvl 4, the next version of graphic engine unlocks for research.
Note : 3Dv6 and 3Dv7 are researched in the R&D lab for money, all the others in the main screen for RP.

I feel a fool. :blush: No sooner did I post this than I went back into the game and figured it out myself. Yes, you are all correct, I needed to research first, just like I did all the times before. I somehow forgot that I needed to do that first! LOL Sorry about that, and thank you for the quick responses. I love this game! Soooo happy to have a PC version.

Don’t feel bad. I ran across this same issue, with the same confusion resulting, the first time I played a game in which I didn’t immediately research Custom Engine once I hit 50RP.
