Ok so been running some tests on the game mechanics…
still in the garage part after 7 years. Been making the same 3 games… all simulators, I go hospital to gov to business then repeat. Slowly been working the sliders to score 9.75 on them… then they start getting 7/8s… and I haven’t changed a thing… so I made my first engine with all the goodies I could for simulator stuff and v2 grahpics. That game got a perfect 10… next game same settings different tpoic got a 7… this makes no sense?
First of all, you can’t just make the same games over and over. Secondly, if you do make a game that is exactly like your previous game, then you must use a new engine if you want a good score.
As time progresses, the customers and reviewers won’t enjoy your games as much because you haven’t changed anything. Frequently update your engine and you should do just fine.
Another tip is to purposefully make a game awful, then make a sequel to that game and make it awesome. This might sound stupid, but it works for me. In fact, I believe that’s one of the steps to getting an 11/10.
The review algorithm works by looking for improvements from past games. So, make different types of games with new features and you should be a billionaire in no time
well first of all… you can make the same games over and over… just not for very long… secondly i never made two copies of the same game back to back… heres a better break down of what happened
Yr 1 no engine
Hospital/Sim = score 7
Gov/Sim = 7.5
Business/sim = 7.5
Hospital/sim = 8
yr2 still no engine
Gov/sim = 8.5
Business/sim = 9
Hospital/sim = 9.75 <- im thinkin i got the bars figured out
so i do the same rotation till year 8 still in the garage mind you, and sitting on about 30mil…still no engine… not changing bars and scoreing 9.5/9.75 with the rare 8…
then year 9 started… i would get 7s and 8s solid… so i made an engine with all the goodies…
Hospital/Sim = score 9.75
Gov/Sim = 9.75
Business/sim = 9.75
so im thinking im close… so i run a few more and suddenly its
Hospital/Sim = score 8
Gov/Sim = 7
Business/sim = 8.5
like wtf… this games algorithm doesn’t make much sense. Ive made no new topics, or different game styles…
Why are you still in the garage if you have 30 million? You’re going to want to move if you want to hire more people, allowing you to acquire more Tech. and Design points for your games.
I’m not saying that making same overtime game is in the game’s algorithm, but take Assassin’s Creed for example. By the fifth one (not counting AC: Liberation and all those other rushed-out-the-door ACs), it got kinda old. I say it makes perfect sense. Also, be sure to check with what’s trending at the time of release.
im in the garage for a test this isnt my actual play through it was merely tests to try and figure out the game mechanics better as they do not logically work. Your right a game gets old but it should take 8 years to get old it should get old after the 4th remake however because the lack of subtopics it makes sense to allow Gov/sim game then a business/sim game then another gov/sim game because they are NOT the same games since they are not sequels the game mechanics will use it as a new game.
i just reran the test again made it to year 12 with 60mil, making only sport/sim, school/sim and not using an engine. before i had any scores below 9.
