Have Target Audience be unlocked at the same time as the TES

Currently Target Audience unlocks at Y2M9W3. Before that all games are produced as Everyone games (at least that’s what it appears from the in-game results). This isn’t a real problem for the G64 and the PC, as those are geared towards all age categories. The TES that unlocks at Y2M1W2 however is geared towards Young. This means that until you get Target Audience all your TES games (1 or potentially 2) will under perform in terms of sales. Moving the Target Audience, to let’s say Y2M1W1, would solve that.

Well, it is a bit realistic to the real world. The ESRB is created after the port of Mortal Kombat to the SNES. So… I guess they has a point?

That’s something else entirely. The target audience of early NES games was children or young teens as much as it was for those released at the end. Yet in GDT you can’t make a financially successful TES game until you get Target Audience. That means that it’s not a real option to develop for it until Target Audience unlocks. That’s just not good game design. Having the TES unlock should mean players have more options, but the way it’s now it doesn’t.
