Well, hallo there. Have this pretty annoying problem, that no matter what i do, im getting bad reviews. I even tried to consult the wiki, since i couldnt understand why it came this way.
Basically im coming to the 2nd stage, hiring workers, they want to be paid like elite-gamedesigners and with 200k costs every month im just not making enough money. Also, those wanna-bes either dont produce enough points to make a decent game (therefore review scores around 5-6) or eat up money like nothing.
The wiki does tell you “everything” but I try to distill my guide for newbs down to this… in medium stage, use a publisher (make sure the requested combos are doable, don’t sweat the penalty) until you get 100k fans. Publishers manage to sell tons of copies and build up your fan base and cash. After 100k, you can publish your own.
Also stick to one or two genres that suit your team well (adventure and rpg are very similar) and be consistent (incremental improvements) with your game elements. You can improve your game with leveled up employees and training early on, and every few years, when you have the money to do so, build a new game engine with newer graphics and release some sequels on the new engine.
Dewii - probably true. It worked for me the first time I tried it, but I’d like to go back and be a lot more careful about “slowly improving” games and see if I can get by without it. Even when I load up my engines, I should only add “one feature” each time to the new games I make. I am excited to try this, and to see how much money I make on my own. Maybe I’ll save/release/reload/release and compare making the “exact same” game published and without and see how much income and fans I get. (There’s usually one low-paying publishing deal with any topic, any genre.)
You do realize your necroposting screenshot doesn’t mean much, right ?
First at Y142, nothing has much sense …
And second, you just add a screenshot from an obsolete version where MMOs were tremendously overpowered, to a thread that’s four months old.
