GDT2 : Complete game creation overhaul

Hi there, fellow forum peeps
I have enjoyed this sort of games for a long time now but, one of the things that is always limited is the actual game creation aspect of this rare genre
I have played a nice amount of playtrough off this game over the last couple of months but at the end off the day creating a game project always comes down on places in the sliders in the right position, have the right staff where you need them, and then add some feature’s
What i would love to see is a more personal way of creating you’re games, something thats not just about hitting the right spot on the slider’s and therefor i post here to present my idea of how game creation should work

The game creation screen

If you can stand my bad paint skills i will show you the interface and will explain what its function is

Project Name :
Enter the name of youre game

Selected Genre & Selected subject :
The Genre and its subject, this will give you a number of options to add that are viable to its genre

Main focus :
What kind of game is it, one that is focused on the single or co op story mode, or one that is focused on the multiplayer

Campaign durotation : How long is the story mode compaign, this can be increased with will add to youre game development time

Campaign Quality : How well written is the campaign story, how well are the maps desinged ? this can be increased but it will be limited at the skill of the staff, and the estimated quality could possibly be a bit lower or higher

Amount of enemy’s or weapons : how many enemy’s are there in the game, how many weapons can you use ?, ofcourse in different Genre’s these value’s can be something different, like in an RPG there could be something like the amount of Classes you can play, or in RTS the amount of units and buildings you can make. ofcourse increasing this cost time, and time is money

Multiplayer : will youre game feature multiplayer, even if the main focus aint on it, ofcourse its more importent if its marketed as one who is multiplayer focused, and how many maps will you create ? ofcourse new maps take time to develop, and time is money

Extra options and Special Feature’s : These extra options could add extra quality to the game, and giving you the option to charge more, but then again they also cost time to develop.

license’s : You can have the option to lince’s the game to create it after a certain movie or license real weapen models to add to the game, these will give you extra hype. but will also cost extra

The buisness side of things

As you may have noticed there where two tabs in the badly made paint image, as the first part is the game creating id also love to see an overhaul on the buisness side of things, this would affect how many copy,s you can sell and how mutch youre practice’s may or may not be liked by you fanbase

Fans happyness : How happy youre fans have been with youre past buisness practice’s

Game Price : This is a very important element to selling the game and gaining or looseing fans, how mutch do you think youre game is worth from the amount of content you added. if you sell it for too mutch its gonna cost you a lot of fans

Free Advertising :
This is the easyest way to get hype for a game, only thing it will cost you is some time from a worker or youreself

Payed adds : For these adds you pay, but they will give you more hype then free adds

Risky Adds : these adds dont really cost you anything but they come at a risk, if the reaction to an alpha test or demo is negative it will make you loose hype, if you had no hype to begin with it will lower what you get from other form of advertising

False Advertising : These adds are both free or cost you, but one thing it will definatly cost you is fans, but it will generate you a nice heap of hype

DRM : These Methods will lower the emount of fans you can get from a succesfull game, but it will also lower piracy, the amount off effect will depend on how extreme youre actions are

Double Dipping : these might cost you fans as they wont be happy with haveing to pay more to get the full game, but it will give you an extra boost in money output

These are my basic idea’s how makeing a game can become a lot more personal and varied
Thanks for reading and let me know what you think

There are some nice idea’s, nice work.
You have put in a lot of time working it out

amount of maps, amount of enemy, amount of weapons, that’s so specific, but all the other features are ok, good job

They are some really good ideas.

Good job on making this idea! I do want the unlockable features to be locked/removed first if you haven’t researched it though.

Yes, makeing engine’s should ofcourse always be a part of this kind of game
