Hi,
The Game Dev Tycoon license allows one to install the game on three PCs max. I was thinking, now that the game uses Steam DRM, can the developers consider changing the license, at least of the Steam version, so that it can be installed on an unlimited number of PCs but only one copy may be running at a given time, in line with Steam’s DRM system? I’m asking because I have Steam on 5 computers - a Mac Mini, 4 different rigs of vastly different configuration, and a laptop. Currently I’m curious as to how the game would perform on both my Mac Mini and one other gaming rig, but don’t wish to uninstall and reinstall frequently when playing.
It’d be great if the Greenheart would consider this move for the Steam copy. Since Steam won’t exactly let you buy more than one copy of a game anyway
PS: I know I originally bought the game before it was released on Steam, but I have since converted my copy over to the Steam version by requesting for a Steam key for the game and registering it with Steam.
As far as I’m aware, GDT doesn’t actually use any DRM. Steam is merely a distribution channel in GDT’s case. Plus the achievements; mustn’t forget the achievements!
I believe the EULA for the Steam edition is a modified form of the Desktop edition EULA, and as such includes the 3-PC clause. However, since sharing your password with anyone is against the ToS (as laid out in the SSA), and as such can potentially get your account blocked, we tend to ignore that clause in practice, because Steam already covers the reasons for that clause. (NB: You can buy multiple copies on Steam, if you wish to gift the game to your friends)
The ModernUI edition available on the Windows Store does not have the 3-PC clause for the same reason; sharing the password to your Microsoft account is a violation of their ToS.
In short, if the PCs are all yours and yours alone, go ahead and use them all.

Yes, all the PCs are mine and are even in the same room. And I am extremely protective of my Steam account. It’s just that I find it a hassle to uninstall/reinstall often. Plus, in my case, I also find it a hassle to switch systems just to play. Being able to fire up Steam and run the game on any of the rigs would be great.
Thanks for the clarification.
