Games You Might Not Have Tried

Also very good game is Prison Architect by Introversion. (Saw there Uplink somewhere earlier in this thread).
Another gem, in my opinion was Gearhead Garage. The website is still online, but the game is no longer available, I think. It also was quite a pain to get running under windows 7.

For those of you who didnā€™t have a Mac in '93, Bungieā€™s first 3D game, and the earliest example of a FPS/RPG that I know of, Pathways Into Darkness was just ported to OS X. As far as I can tell, no changes have been made to any aspect of the game so itā€™s even better than playing it in an emulator.

Mac only though, but so was the original. I mean, could you imagine Mac gaming icon Bungie ever developing for Microsoft? Like that would ever happen. :stuck_out_tongue:

Now if only someone would update Minotaur to run in OS Xā€¦

Both these are in development stages with regular updatesā€¦

Prison Architect - You have to design and then run your own prison from the ground up. Great tycoon type game.

Kerbal Space Program - This is a space simulator, where you have to first build your own rocket and make it take off into orbit, where there is a whole galaxy of different planets to try to fly to and land on.
It can be quite mind boggling at first, as once in space, you start to learn the same methods used by NASA today, to put satellites etc into orbit, but there are many good Youtube videoā€™s (search for ā€œScott Manleyā€) who show you exactly how to play etc.

Iā€™m afraid you were beat to the punch there, but I can definitely say that KSP rocks. I canā€™t wait for .20 and its improved mod loading. Definitely try the FAR mod, actual aerodynamics rock.

Just wanted to point out that the Show me the games SALE ends in a day:

One of the games (Democracy 2) is a personal favorite. Clever idea

Even though it hasnā€™t come out yet, it loks really fun and promising, check it out! It s also only made by one dude

In this city-building strategy game, you control a group of exiled travelers who decide to restart their lives in a new land. They have only the clothes on their backs and a cart filled with supplies from their homeland.

The objective of the game is to keep the population alive and grow it into a successful culture. Options for feeding the people include hunting and gathering, agriculture, trade, and fishing. However, sustainable practices must be considered to survive in the long term.

One game REALLY under the radar and very much fitting for this forum is Gamebiz 3. Basically the same as Game Dev, but less polish, less graphics, more business sim. Gamebiz 2 is free, but has fake names and lots of spelling errors. Under the bad polish they are really good, and I have played them over 100 hours.

Another game only a BIT under the radar, but considering its incredible quality, much under the radar is Eador:Genesis. I have played it over 500 hours since release and am now sure to say it is the pinnacle of Fantasy 4x, much better than Heroes 3 and Master of Magic. This game is basically all the great games before it combined and then some more, and it works. Theres also a new 3D remake, for those who dont like pretty 2D.

Iā€™ve been playing a game called ā€œCartlifeā€, a tycoon / life type sim that i recommend you check out

I want to play Papers Please , but canā€™t cause I need to update my Video Card. Gonna have to wait to play cause my gaming PC is currently at another house of mine.

Came across this in dev game on the Kerbal forumsā€¦World Of Diving, a deep sea scuba diving simā€¦

Also, theres a good physics based Car building / battle sim called Scraps where you build a car from the chassis up, adding weapons etc to it, when eventually, the idea is you will have multiplayer battles online, with your own vehicle designs.

back in the old days i played games like hollywoodmanager on amiga, the clou!, the planer, ā€œder reederā€ and space job on msdos

  • hollywoodmanager is a business sim where you manage your cinema + making movies
  • the planer is also a business sim where you manage a forwarding company
  • space job is something like a life sim (unfortunately only in german, it was a promotional game by karstadt)
  • and the clou! is a mix between adventure and sim where youā€™re a burglar and plan your burglaries
  • ā€œder reederā€ is a business sim where youā€™re representing a shipping company, seems that itā€™s also only in german (couldnā€™t find an english version)

i played these games a lot

Hereā€™s one game that some people would like , itā€™s made by a company called Foddy and they make all kinds of wierd games.

http://www.foddy.net/GetOnTop.html

Itā€™s a really fun 2 player game where you have to defeat your friend itā€™s really amazing!

Donā€™t know if theyā€™ve been mentioned, but I quite like Dwarfs?! and Realm of the Mad God. Theyā€™re both free on Steam.

For wrestling fans, I highly suggest Extreme Warfare Revenge (or EWR). Itā€™s a free professional wrestling simulator where you run your own federation. It has a large following still (I believe, been a few years) that give out current up-to-date real world mod packs and itā€™s a hell of a lot of fun.

I think you can still download it here. http://www.demonews.com/download.php?det=3668#.UgBGg20hg1w

Alternatively, the same creator, Adam Ryland, stepped that up in '05 with Total Extreme Warfare (this '05 version is a freeware now) and made the game even more in-depth. You can get this at www.greydogsoftware.com along with quite a few other games, one of which I will recommend.

Finally, for MMA (UFC shit) fans like myself, the World of Mixed Arts series is amazing fun. It plays similar to TEW, but not at all at the same time.

I hope you guys enjoy.

I am pretty addicted to Audiosurf atm

The great thing about it you can play for 3 minutes or 30 and you use your own music. very simple, very cool, very addictive.

I do NOT THINK it is indie, but I rarely ever see this game talked about, anywhere so here it is: http://www.starwraith.com/evochronmercenary/
Itā€™s great fun (if you have a joystick) not an X-universe clone (one can actually visit planets :D)

A friend suggest i try To The Moon

Much like Dear Esther, more of an interactive movie than a game.
Made me weepy

Xenonauts. http://www.xenonauts.com/

Itā€™s the best successor to X-com. The same gameplay as the original with up to date graphics. It is currently in beta and is available on steam. You can also get it on Desura.

Project Zomboid. http://projectzomboid.com/blog/

Try to survive a zombie apocalypse, you will die. You can build your own safe house and go out scavenging for supplies. Itā€™s rapidly approaching beta stage.

Loved - An art flash game where you took the role of this person as he/she (depends of what you chose it to be) navigates through a bizzare world trying to escape/reach a telepathic guy controlling our mind to communicate with him/her. It is beautiful (not exactly that, butā€¦)

Reus - A game where you act as God and control these things (angels??? statues??? giants???) to control the world you are controlling. Try to say control a lot. Like someone controlling your mouth. Itā€™s a good game for my opinion, though it is not a smooth 60fps game, it is still fun to play.

Culdcept Saga is a good Xbox 360 game Iā€™m not sure how popular it was though so Iā€™ll give it a mention. It is like Monopoly and a card battle game mixed together.

Edit:Wow tried to look it up on gamestop to make sure I had the name right and saw another game Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii that is going for $89 used and it is even higher on Ebay I guess I wonā€™t ever be trying that one.
