Forum Etiquette - Reminders

Heya Guys,

Occasionally We will gain some new members who will need a gentle reminder that here on the Greenheart Games forums, which are powered by Discourse, we do things a little differently!

When reminders or guidance are needed a post will be made here to help explain any ethos as we, in the Greenheart Games team see it.

So! Discourse has a different ethos to most forums when it comes to Necroing!

Necroing here means;

  • Reviving an old thread for no good reason other than to improve your
    post count :unamused:

An acceptable form of reviving a thread includes;

  • Reviving an old thread to contribute in a way that helps you or other
    users. Such as asking a question and sharing your experience of the
    matter. :sunglasses:

Useless replies such as ‘yea/no/maybe’ ‘I agree’ etc will be removed!

So, we have had a couple of ‘Goodbye Fair World’ posts recently. Therefore this seems like an appropriate time to mention the following;

As you move through life, you will notice that each and every forum has its own lifecycle of people. Whole groups will come and go. While a very few will always remain regulars.

Before you create a new thread to simply advise people you are leaving, Stop for a minute and consider if it is really needed. Would it be better to contact your close friends via PM and advise them of your intended actions and offer a way to stay in touch?

Do you have any positive or negative, or ideally both, opinions on the forums you would like to share? If so then make that the main point of the thread, with the fact you are moving on to forums anew a secondary consideration.

We are not saying don’t say goodbye, we are just saying make the post meaningful and useful to both current and future forum users. smile
