ENDGAME - Everything is Flawed

I am not even talking about MMOs.
My MMO is a decent rated 8 but sells circa 4 BILLION (yes billion, not million) copies per second.
With a total of 1 Trillion, 130 billion and 250 million copies sold overall.
The console for the MMO Only sold 12 MILLION so not only do I sell more than half of the world population a copy per second
but also apparently EVERY console owner must have at least 94 thousand copies of the game. Bit excessive? Maybe.

Anyhow so basically I have completely “finished” the game and just want to make games for fun not profit since I already have unlimited money basically (like 6 trillion dollars).
And I noticed a HUGE gamebreaking thing that ruins this totally.

The rating system. It sucks. It doesn’t work. It annoys me.

Everything is MAXED. Entirely. All my stuff is lvl 11 or 12, all workers are level 11 or 12, all Skills are maxed entirely (Tech Design, etc).
I have the best engine possible with all the features.

I go to the wiki (http://gamedevtycoon.wikia.com/wiki/) to check I am not making any mistakes. I follow everything step by step, the Review Algorithm as well as the Game development page.
Tripple A game. But the scores don’t work out at all.

Just ONE example I made a Mature Horror Action PC Game. Perfect combo.
Sliders are at exactly (percent) 75,100,35 / 25, 100, 75 / 25, 100. 75
All the correct workers specialised work on their expertise.
All workers are fresh from vacation and get the tripple boost while working.

I make over 5000 points both in Tech and Design. I doubt it’s possible to do more without cheats.

Here is the deal: The games get a 6.25 rating. 6.25. With everything maxed and followed the wiki step by step…

I believe, correct me if I’m wrong, that the overall Ratio between Tech and Design has a role in this. Since all my workers have capped Tech AND Design I have no control over it, and the ratio is basically always 1:1 in the end.

Here are some screens of what I was talking about:

Game completed:

Reviews:

Aftermath:

Yes ofc it sold well (hard with 40 million fans…) but that’s not the point. I want good scores not money. And it makes me mad when the game denies it without any reason whatsoever or by using algorithms that I have no control over.

Design and Tech. only affects the amount sales you’ll get.

I would like to respectfully point out that you have played the game for 89 in-game years. We designed the game for 25-35 years. While you can play for longer there is a point (as you’ve found out) where the system just doesn’t scale anymore.

Maybe we can fix this in an update but at the moment there is simply a limit to how long you can play a single game.

The game itself states that you can continue playing after the main game, just that random events don’t happen anymore and that no new consoles will release. Makes perfect sense.

The excuse that the game completely isn’t functioning anymore after a while is not a good one by the way.
Most of the fun stuff unlocked after the 30 years aka after the main game for me (on my first playthrough).

The rating system should function no matter which year you are in.
What is the fun in trying to max out everything if it will completely mess up the algorithms?

My early game low skilled workers can make 9.5 and 10s no problem with a shitty engine but once I have the best of everything I get 6? That should definitely be fixed.

I appreciate your viewpoint. We will see what we can do but please understand that we need to fix more pressing issues first.

They just have a lot of friends. Clearly. And they’re just gifting in between eachother over and over again. :slight_smile:

Don’t take wiki’s slider info for granted. It’s not the only thing that affects review scores.
From what I can gather, factors are:

  1. Topic (yes, some topics definitely affect sliders);
  2. Genre, obviously;
  3. Design / Tech ratio;
  4. “Tech level” of the game, determined by included engine parts;
  5. Repetition (which gives a huge penalty).

And probably there’s more. I’m not sure if platform/audience/topic/genre combination affect the scores (or only sales), but it also could be possible.

@rosebud - It’s very likely that you’re getting low review scores because while the years are ticking on there are no new things to research thus your engine is considered “old” and that’s forcing what would otherwise be perfect games to have low scores. I believe that’s what Patrick was getting at. The game’s engine is designed to have people play a little bit beyond the 25-35 year span but not to the extreme you’ve gotten to.

Sure it could be fixed, but I’d rather they address things that will improve the 25-35 year scored gameplay than stuff very few people will encounter at that level of post-game play.

I achieved a 10/10/10/10 score at the year 80 or somewhere. Doing the 10th or so sequel using a combo that I used for almost all of my late game games (just released some different topic-games that fit well with the same multi genre I used).
That game not only sold perfectly (>700M copies, this made more :dollar: then the EU GDP :smiley: )

The wiki that users have been contributing to is full of a wealth of information. Some of it is so detailed either the contributors are well-versed in programming or the developers themselves are contributing.

The game development charts are a huge help in making sure you’re not creating low-rated games despite having skilled employees and a superb engine.

Look on the bright side!

It’s the 2070’s and the Sentient Cloud hasn’t yet stepped in to demand any additional tax revenue, despite your obvious monopoly. Nor has your lack of support for full-immersion virtual reality via direct neural interface disappointed your fan base.

Can u just make random events? Like random generated console every few years?

That’s about all you could do at this stage, but even then it wouldn’t fix the issue since it would only use the tech researched (which would be outdated by a few decades by now), and even then the engine can’t get any better so it won’t really improve anything.

uh review for me are annoying so far only cames i can really get good reviews is actions and rpg games for me =/ but if i make new game it seems to change where i get simulation games are my most money makers… like my reviews if i try make different genre i get good combo new topic, new combo or something… and i get 1,2,3,1 reviews… but action mainly 10 to 7 or 6 at times…idk just i try new stuff but all get good combos and stuff but worse reviews this happen before end game but after that everything so far been getting good…

Good combo and new combo will influence the reviews a bit, but it’s main influence is in your levels (engine, story/quests, overall level etc). I’ll assume you’re putting the priorities into the right parts of the game development (right staff for sliders, sliders optimised for genre, engine compliments genre), aimed at the right target audience, and on the best suited platform. Other than that, I don’t know. What’s the size of your fanbase?

Well my stuff were low but it so far reviewers only like my action ninja games little bit of my racing games. Well at the time it was like around 100k fans if i remember right but now i am pass all that problems. Took me forever due reviewers always hating on me D= but it okay :3 just took me 11 trys in row to find out what the reviewers wanted.
