End-game content and future of Game Dev Tycoon?

I’m considering buying Game Dev Tycoon, but do to me already playing (and the similarities with) Game Dev Story, I’m unsure it will be worth it.

How is the end-game content, is there anything to do once you’ve gotten a good team and built your own console?

In GDS the game sort of peters out, you don’t get any real competition, there isn’t really a ‘end-level’ challenge and you sort of lose interest (it’s not worth starting over as you already know how to win, and there’s not reason to continue as there isn’t a challenge…).

Is there any replayability or late-game challenge with GDT? Randomization of ‘good’ game types, maybe even PR nightmare events or something? Are there different difficulties or challenges? Is there anything which would shake up a good run (employees leaving, interests changing, hardware requirements drastically increasing)?

And is there continued development for GDT? It looks pretty rounded at the moment, few complaints and issues, but is there any more content planned to be introduced (I saw the April Fools thread and was actually excited at the though of large additional content), or has development stopped?

I mean, it looks like the current composition of the game is similar to GDS, but it would be pretty obvious if the Devs were planning on adding more content than there is today that it’s more than just a copy.

It’s a lightweight Simulation like GDS but has a bit more depth to it then GDS but still not that much. The End Game Content is mostly researching and MMO’s

If you want an more complex approach to the Game Development Theme you should look at Gamebiz 3 but a warning ahead it looks horrible  but is fun to play http://www.veloci.dk/gamebiz/index.asp?visnu=GB3.htm its a bit pricey but fun to play if you can stand the (non existent) graphics (i have 100+ Hours)

Oh wow that looks (well not looks, but you know what I mean) amazing.

If GDT looked as involved I would jump on it in a second.
