I had a hard time coming through the console wars and the licenses.
But once I got to the otherside, where Playsystem 3 came, and pc tech became equal or better. Then I kept mass produce games which got 4-5 rating all the time, kinda bad. But I kept earned about ½mil per game and the expenses where only 67k, I realized I either made it into a money factory or I “broke” something in the game?
I have no staff, too expensive and they slack too much for my taste. I do not wish to speed up the process, I actually rather want it to take as long as possible, so my guy can make it as good as possible, instead of the rushing, which it feels like… But it felt somehow boring that I could “cheese” the game and actually earning money that way… not changing a single thing on the sliders, just only changing the topic… and profit.!..
It felt like I was cheating, yet it also was quite stress relieving that you don’t had to make “good games” all the time to stay alive… and I could make a good game once in a while once I feel like my engine is there etc… but did anyone else experience this?
This is a valid strategy. Look what EA does with sports games. No quality, just mass producing sure-hit games, minimize the expenses so you can’t lose much, because people will buy it since their games have all the licenses.
