I noticed that there was a more updated version of the game on steam. I am running the stand alone version on Windows 7. Will there be an update to this version or should I stop playing now and install the steam version and play that instead?
I don’t think they are gonna update it again for a while if ever I’m thinking because it would screw with the mods people have made.
Well that’s why I am asking because the Windows 7 version I have is 1.4.5. That was done on Nov. 21, 2013. The current steam version is 1.4.15. That update was applied June 12, 2014. To me it seems like they are concentrating on the steam version more at this point. It’s totally understandable too because they are getting more exposer that way. I just don’t want to play 1.4.5 and see the steam version constantly adding new material or fixing bugs. I guess I’ll just download the steam version and play that instead.
Good points not sure myself but I would think if it was a big update or something really important they would update all versions though they might just be updating small stuff they have to for the steam version.
Yeah I agree. The most I have seen done is adding different languages. I think they fixed one bug with an achievement and added a menu tab on screen. I’ve gotten rid of my Windows 7 version and have the steam version now. Time to start over lol One thing I would address with steam is the overlay is not synced up properly. They might also be using steam as a way to test out fixes until they get them right. Then release one huge update to the non steam versions. I just like having the most up to date versions lol
The steam version is just a tiny addition and steam compatibility, i think.
Well that’s the thing. The non steam version for Linux is 1.4.4 and the version for Windows 8 is actually 1.4.2. In the update log for these versions there is nothing that says anything about the version being an equal. For example Windows 8 1.4.2 is equivalent to Windows 7 1.4.5. It’s all one log that continues up to 1.4.15 and the only version that goes up to that point is the steam version. I think I’d like for the devs to have some.input on this topic just to clear things up a bit. I’m still sticking with the steam version for now.
yes, we do plan to update the non-steam version but there is no ETA yet. Most of the recent updates dealt with steam-specific issues but there are certainly some enhancement that will be useful for everyone.
Currently we are working on another update. Once that is out and stable we will update the non-steam versions too.
Awesome! Thanks for the input. I will stay with the steam version since it seems to be the center of development right now even though a lot of the updates are steam specific. I would only say that for what ever the steam overlay and notifications are off a bit near the bottom. The bottom half of everything is cut off.
