So, I FINALLY made it to level 3, and now everything goes very well.
Good sales ect.
But, I now researched AAA games.
So, if I make a game with it, it takes longer to develop, which means more design and technology points.
Aside from AAA marketing, does an AAA title do anything else?
Imho AAA marketing is a waste of money. Huge waste. G3 booth for 2M in the beginning of Stage 1, marketing campaign for 2M in the beginning of Stage 2, several 150K marketing campaigns over the course of Stages 2 and 3, and you get close to or over 500 hype easilly. AAA marketing - insane money sink, same effect. Why?
Compared to Large, AAA games sell more and cost more, that’s it. You need 3D Graphics v5+ and three specialists in important fields for your genre though, in order to be able to achieve 9+ reviews (scores of 9 and 10 only).
Also, it seems (although this may be incorrect) that it’s harder to create good Large games after making a AAA one, because the game dynamics favors games that are better than your previous ones in terms of combos and T/D points (which AAA games naturally get more of)
AAA games when done right make insane amounts of money i got one over 600m at one point. just get
the right specialists for the job first before you try.
It is always harder to make good games of smaller size because Game Score divisor is not big enough to compensate for game size (AAA has 1.8 while small have 1.0, while you guess that AAA has like 10x amount of D+T of small)
Huh, actually, I am super fine with making large games and they are easy to make correctly.
My reason for making AAA games is that it’s the only way to use high end engine features without going under 100% in at least one of the development areas per stage.
