A mod that increases difficulty?

Hello,

Do you know a mod that increases the difficulty? I’ve tried the competitor mod but it’s not hard enough.

By the way, how can I find how to access key features like in the Competitor mod to try to create my own?
The mod is compiled or what so ever, so I cannot edit it.

Thanks!

expansion pack by @DzjengisKhan has a difficulty setting. also, please add a catogery

I can’t find the setting. Can you tell me?

@thomas_hadrien you need to start a new game and the option will be in the same section as the game length

Is it possible that my mod is not up to date?
Can’t see any possible update in the mod menu and still no setting about difficulty :frowning:

@thomas_hadrien have you got it off workshop or manually installed it?

Workshop!

@thomas_hadrien (may sound stupid) but are you pressing the settings icon in the top right of the UI when you’re creating a new save

Yes ^^

Hum, I guess I have a problem with my savegame.
When I load the game, I get an error message about the mods and the current game. Even if i create a new game and save it.
I deleted all the content of the mod folders. Reacquired the genuine missing files from steam and launched the game. Same issue… Seems linked to my save game.

@thomas_hadrien hmm… i don’t know does it ask you to abort loading or too continue?

Yes exactly that message.

The mods listed on the save game do not even correspond to the one I select. They are stuck.

@thomas_hadrien
Try un-subscribing from all your mods
reinstall the game
delete game saves (delete C:\Users[user]\AppData\Local\Game Dev Tycoon - Steam) also turn off steamcloud
subscribe to mods again

Also, maybe @alphabit @DanielKlug @PatrickKlug could help

turning off steam cloud:

The game seems to keep some files somewhere.
I unregistered the mods on steam, deleted the appdata folder + the steamapps/common/GDT folder (it still contained everything) and he asks me for ultimatelib. It’s really weird.

hmmm @thomas_hadrien i’m out of ideas maybe @alphabit can help, but that was my last resort idea :stuck_out_tongue:.
sorry

EDIT: did you turn off steam cloud?

I’m not sure I follow what the issue is.

When you save a game that has active mods then the game will show you a mod-mismatch error whenever you try to load that save without these same mods active.

When you start a new game all active mods (ESC/mods) will be added to the save file.

Are you saying that you don’t have ANY mods active but that this error shows even when starting a new game?

Yes that was it.
A few people had the same problem which I solved after an hour messing around with steam files, appdata files and cloud settings.
Now, back on tracks, I’ve lost all my saved games but it’s ok. Just… There is no difficulty settings on the expansion pack.

I would add something: I cannot turn the mods off. That’s a big issue.
It always takes the mods of the current game even if I do “new game”.

edit: i solved it by chosing the mods before loading any game
That means everytime I want to select mods, I have to restart the game…

edit 2: well the “trick” does not work. I cannot reactivate the mods. It’s really really messed up.

edit 3: I got it! You must change the mods, the exit the game, then do new game and it works. Uh

It does say that activating/disabling mods requires a restart. Was that the issue? Maybe we just need to make this clearer in the UI.

Regarding expansion pack: I read in the workshop description for that mod that the difficulties are temporarily disabled because of bugs.
